Oak Care Home Ltd is seeking reliable, caring and professional Support Workers to join its supported accommodation services for young people aged 16–18.


The role involves helping young people develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for adulthood and independent living.


Key responsibilities

  • Provide practical and emotional support.
  • Help young people develop independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping and managing appointments.
  • Complete welfare checks and maintain appropriate communication.
  • Deliver planned keywork sessions in line with individual support plans.
  • Support education, employment, training and college attendance.
  • Help young people access healthcare, benefits and other professional services where required.
  • Promote positive routines, healthy lifestyles, appropriate behaviour and community participation.
  • Support young people to understand boundaries, responsibilities and house expectations.
  • Safeguard young people and respond appropriately to concerns, incidents and disclosures.
  • Follow risk assessments, support plans, safety plans, safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and keywork documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, personal advisers, education providers and other professionals.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and help keep the accommodation safe, clean and appropriately maintained.

About you
You should be caring, patient, approachable and reliable, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will need to communicate clearly, remain calm in challenging situations, set appropriate professional boundaries and complete accurate written records.


Flexibility is required to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in shifts where necessary.


Essential requirements

  • The legal right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check, including the appropriate barred-list check where applicable.
  • Satisfactory references and a full employment history.
  • An understanding of safeguarding young people.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills for recording and reporting.

Desirable experience and qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, care leavers or vulnerable adults.
  • Experience in supported accommodation, residential care, youth work or social care.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People, Health and Social Care, or a related subject.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, contextual safeguarding, exploitation and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience completing keywork sessions, risk assessments and support plans.
  • A full UK driving licence.
