Working options | Office-based with optional rotational remote working in line with divisional requirements Working pattern | Full time Working hours | 37.5 (Monday – Friday) hours per week Reports to | Head of Legal and COFA What we’re looking for: To lead the day-to-day financial operations of Landlord Action, ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. The role will oversee all legal cashiering activities, maintain rigorous financial controls, and support the production of high-quality management reporting. The Legal Cashier Lead will utilise strong management accounts knowledge and extensive experience within an SRA-regulated environment to safeguard client money, uphold regulatory standards, and contribute to effective financial decision-making across the business. Responsibility and accountability: • Lead all client and office account operations in full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), maintaining up-to-date regulatory knowledge., • Authorise payments, transfers and reconciliations, ensuring strong internal controls and prompt resolution of discrepancies., • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and monitor residual client balances., • Maintain and enhance financial controls, audit trails, AML procedures, and overall compliance standards., • Act as the primary contact for SRA accounts-related queries and lead preparation for internal/external audits., • Support management accounting, including monthly P&L, financial performance reporting, budgeting, forecasting and KPI analysis., • Monitor cash flow, working capital, fee earner profitability, aged debt and disbursement processes., • Oversee billing, invoicing and supplier payment processes., • Supervise and develop legal cashier(s) and drive process improvements across the finance function., • Build effective working relationships with legal, operational and leadership teams. People management • Daily line management of Legal Cashier(s). Where other teammates undertake similar work, to provide advice, guidance, and feedback directly to those teammates, • Attend all training and briefing sessions relevant to people management, • Conduct recruitment and onboarding practices in line with established Company procedures, • Make sure all teammates complete allocated mandatory learning within specified deadlines each year, • Make sure all teammates are appraised throughout the financial year in accordance with Company guidelines, identifying and providing areas for development or additional training in consultation with the People team where appropriate, • Make sure all absences and disciplinary issues are handled in accordance with Company guidelines; absences must be recorded on Company systems and return to work interviews conducted within laid down timescales, • Potential disciplinary issues should be raised and discussed with the People team with mutual agreement being reached as to the way forward. Should any disciplinary meetings (informal or formal) with teammates be necessary, full notes are to be taken, and the People team are to be kept informed, • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance within the team, aligned with Company values, • All the above are to be managed in accordance with the Company values and established HFIS procedures Personal responsibilities: • Adhere to all HFIS and Brown and Brown (Europe) policies and procedures, • Act in line with HFIS company values at all times, • Complete all allocated regulatory topics (My Learning) within specified deadlines each year, • Make sure all Company security procedures, as detailed in the Personal Information Security Policy, are followed and any areas of concern are notified to your line manager Experience, knowledge and skills needed: • Significant experience in legal cashiering within an SRA-regulated law firm., • Demonstrable experience in legal cashiering or a similar finance role within a law firm with a strong understanding of legal financial processes., • Proficient with legal accounting systems (LEAP desirable), Xero, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reporting)., • Proven experience producing management accounts and working with external auditors/accountants., • Experienced in supervising or mentoring finance staff., • High accuracy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently., • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation abilities, with confidence liaising at senior levels.
