Technical Solutions Designer / Power Automate Designer | Microsoft 365, RPA, Power Platform & Automation | Public Sector • Chelmsford / Essex (primarily remote with 2 days per month on-site), • Perm, Full-time, • £49k – £53k + benefits The role: This is an opportunity to join a large, complex public sector environment as a Technical Solutions Designer focused on automation, AI and enterprise solution design. You will own the design of technical solutions end-to-end, from initial idea through to high- and low-level design, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365, Power Platform and automation initiatives. This is a design-led role rather than hands-on engineering. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to shape solutions, produce clear design documentation, and guide delivery teams through implementation. You’ll operate across a broad landscape of infrastructure and applications, collaborating with architects, engineers and project teams to introduce scalable, secure and well-governed solutions. Non-Negotiables: • Technical solution design (HLD / LLD), • Microsoft 365 (Power Platform / Power Automate), • Enterprise infrastructure & systems knowledge, • ITIL (change, incident, problem), • Solution design across functional & non-functional requirements, • Stakeholder management (technical + non-technical), • Strong documentation skills, • Security, governance, regulated environments What You’ll Work With • Microsoft 365, • Power Automate, • Power Platform, • RPA / automation workflows, • Hybrid environments, • On-prem and cloud-connected systems, • High-level design documentation, • Low-level design documentation, • ITIL frameworks, • Infrastructure, application and integration design Core Responsibilities: • Design end-to-end solutions across automation, AI and infrastructure, • Produce HLD / LLD documentation for delivery teams and suppliers, • Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, • Assess impact on existing systems, infrastructure and standards, • Work with stakeholders to define the right technical approach, • Support technology selection and procurement decisions, • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, • Collaborate with engineers, architects and project teams to progress solutions, • Ensure consistency with architecture, governance and standards Examples of the kinds of work you’ll be involved in: • Designing automation workflows that improve internal operational processes, • Shaping AI and Microsoft 365-based solutions for different departments across the organisation, • Producing design documentation that enables engineering teams to implement new services, • Assessing how new platforms or integrations will connect into existing infrastructure, • Helping teams move from manual or fragmented processes into more scalable, supportable solutions Nice to Haves • Public sector or regulated environment experience, • AI / automation programmes, • Procurement experience, • ITIL certification Why Join Join at a point where automation and AI are a key focus, giving you real influence over how solutions are designed and adopted.
