Buyer – Supply Chain West Midlands (Flexible Working) Manufacturing / Engineering Environment The Opportunity We’re working in partnership with a well-established and growing engineering business seeking a commercially astute Buyer to join their Supply Chain team. This is a high-impact role where you’ll take ownership of supplier performance, cost control, and material availability—ensuring operations run efficiently while driving real commercial value. The Role You’ll play a key role in managing procurement activity across both operational and strategic purchasing, with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery. Key responsibilities include: • Managing and optimising MRP/ERP systems (EPICOR preferred) to ensure accuracy and continuity of supply, • Sourcing materials and services across transactional, tactical and strategic spend, • Monitoring and expediting purchase orders to support production schedules, • Driving supplier performance, cost reduction and value for money (VFM), • Leading supplier reviews, negotiations and contract agreements, • Supporting new product development with costings, risk analysis and supplier selection, • Working closely with Operations, Planning, Quality and Finance to meet business objectives, • Managing supplier relationships, performance, and risk across the supply chain, • Identifying and delivering cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives, • Supporting inventory management and maintaining optimal stock levels What We’re Looking For • Proven experience as a Buyer / Procurement Specialist within a manufacturing or engineering environment, • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (EPICOR advantageous), • Demonstrable experience in supplier negotiation and cost control, • Excellent understanding of supply chain dynamics, cost drivers and TCA (Total Cost of Acquisition), • Strong stake holder engagement skills – able to influence at all levels, • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, • Commercially driven with a mindset for continuous improvement and innovation Why Apply? • Opportunity to influence and shape supplier strategy, • Exposure to end-to-end supply chain operations, • Collaborative environment with strong internal stakeholder engagement, • Business committed to continuous improvement and growth Interested?
