\n HGV Refuse Driver / Environmental Services OperativeKeep Our Communities Clean, Safe and Moving \n Are you an experienced HGV Driver looking for a role that offers variety, teamwork and a real sense of purpose? You'll be at the heart of frontline services, operating refuse collection vehicles, supporting waste and recycling operations, and ensuring residents and businesses receive an efficient and reliable service every day. \n What You'll Be Doing \n As an HGV Refuse Driver / Environmental Services Operative, you will: \n Safely drive and operate refuse collection vehicles, skip lorries and specialist cleansing vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation, the Highway Code and Health & Safety regulations. \n Lead and support waste collection crews, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely and to the highest standards. \n Collect household, commercial and trade waste, recycling materials and skips across designated routes. \n Operate lifting equipment and vehicle machinery safely and effectively. \n Complete daily vehicle inspections, defect reporting, tachograph records and operational documentation. \n Use in-cab technology and management systems to record service information, route updates and operational issues. \n Follow collection schedules, route maps and service instructions while adapting to changing operational requirements. \n Provide guidance, instruction and support to colleagues, helping to maintain high standards of service delivery and safety. \n Represent the organisation professionally when interacting with residents, businesses and members of the public. \n Support wider environmental and cleansing operations, including loading duties and other frontline service requirements. \n What We're Looking ForEssential Requirements \n\n • Valid HGV Licence (Class 2 minimum)\n, • CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Card\n, • Strong commitment to Health & Safety\n, • Excellent driving record and knowledge of road transport regulations\n, • Good communication and teamwork skills\n, • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions\n, • Flexible and reliable approach to work\n, • Experience operating specialist vehicles or lifting equipment\n\n Desirable \n\n • Previous experience in waste management, refuse collection, environmental services or local authority operations\n, • Experience leading or supervising operational teams\n, • Knowledge of route planning and vehicle compliance requirements\n\n Why Join Us? \n Make a visible difference in your local community \n Work as part of a supportive and hardworking team \n Variety of duties with no two days the same \n Ongoing training and development opportunities \n Stable, rewarding role with real responsibility \n Key Attributes \n We're looking for someone who is: \n\n • Safety-focused\n, • Reliable and punctual\n, • Customer-oriented\n, • A strong team player\n, • Proactive and adaptable\n, • Committed to delivering excellent public services\n\n If you're an experienced HGV Driver who thrives in a hands-on role and takes pride in delivering essential services to the community, we'd love to hear from you.
