Job Type: Full-time, Permanent\n\nShift Pattern: Day Shift – 38 hours per week\n\nWorking Hours\n\nMonday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30\nFriday: 07:00 – 13:00\n\nSalary\n\n£16 - 19.80ph (DOE)\n\nRole of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer\n\nA well-established precision engineering company is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join its machining team on a permanent day shift basis.\n\nThis role is ideally suited to a skilled CNC machinist with experience programming, setting, and operating CNC vertical milling machines using Heidenhain controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-precision components to exacting quality standards, including machining a range of specialist and difficult-to-machine materials.\n\nKey Responsibilities of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer\n\nProgram CNC milling jobs directly at the machine using Heidenhain controls\nSet and operate CNC vertical milling machines\nLoad, prove, edit, and optimise CNC programs\nAccurately set up fixtures, vices, workholding equipment, and tooling\nInstall and adjust cutting tools to suit production requirements\nCarry out tool offsets and minor program edits where necessary\nMachine components from a range of materials including stainless steels and specialist alloys\nRead and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications\nSelect appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies\nCarry out first-off and in-process inspection using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gauges\nMaintain tight tolerances and high surface finish standards\nIdentify and resolve machining, tooling, and process issues\nEnsure all components meet required quality standards\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment\nWork collaboratively with production and engineering teams to achieve operational targets\nFollow all company health, safety, and quality procedures\n\nSkills & Experience Required of CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer\n\nProven experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator or Milling Setter / Operator\nStrong understanding of CNC machining principles and tooling\nStrong working knowledge of Heidenhain CNC control systems\nExperience operating CNC vertical milling machines\nAbility to confidently interpret engineering drawings\nCompetent in the use of precision measuring instruments\nExperience setting fixtures, tooling, and work offsets\nAbility to work accurately to tight tolerances\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality\nSelf-motivated and capable of working independently or within a team\n\nDesirable Experience of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer\n\nExperience machining exotic or difficult-to-machine materials\nExperience within precision engineering or high-integrity industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, medical, or motorsport\nExperience in one-off, prototype, or small batch production\nKnowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques\nAdditional Opportunity Available: CNC Milling Setter / Operator positions are also available within the machining team for experienced candidates with strong setting and operating backgrounds.\n\nDisclaimer\n\nAt Venatu Recruitment Group, your right to privacy is important to us.
