Job Title: Site Engineer Location: Plymouth Reporting Into: WRB / Building Lead Working Hours: 45 hours per week (07:30 – 17:00) Contract Length: 12 month rolling contract (Expected to last 8 years) Are you a Site Engineer looking for contract rates but with perm stability? If so read below Overall Purpose of the Role An experienced Site Engineer is required to support the delivery of a major redevelopment project at a live defence facility. The role involves assisting the project team in ensuring technical compliance with design specifications and delivering all works safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required (can take up to 8 weeks). Eligibility: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country, be born in a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Key Tasks and Accountabilities Working within a live MOD environment, the Site Engineer will: • Assist in preparing as-built drawings and maintaining accurate site records., • Help establish systems to record work completed and update the Project Quality Plan accordingly., • Support the development of quality check sheets, and carry out quality checks and surveys., • Assist with site safety, environmental, and quality inspections., • Monitor progress of work against programme, quality, and dimensional control requirements., • Record and test workmanship and materials (e.g., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork)., • Provide engineering support to resolve technical issues and site queries., • Perform setting out duties to required tolerances from established site control., • Check setting out points, benchmarks, and calibration certificates for all surveying instruments., • Complete daily site diaries and maintain accurate progress trackers., • Support the procurement of materials and equipment for site operations., • Ensure the workforce correctly interprets and applies setting out information., • Prepare and distribute sketches and technical drawings to aid clear communication on site., • Implement and uphold the company’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System to maintain a safe working environment., • Maintain the drawing register and ensure revisions are tracked and communicated. Who We’re Looking For • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent (e.g., BSc, BEng, MEng, EngTech, or completion of a Higher Apprenticeship)., • Working towards Chartership or Incorporation with ICE, IStructE, or a relevant professional body., • Proficient in Leica survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical and Digital Levels) for setting out and surveying., • Experience working with reinforced concrete structures and system formwork., • Understanding of commercial processes and cost awareness., • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and ability to produce RAMS., • Strong organisational, communication, and people management skills., • Competent IT user with the ability to manage site documentation effectively., • Flexible to work weekends and out of hours on a rota basis., • Holds a Supervisor HSE test and CSCS White AQP card. Desirable Qualifications / Experience • Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) or Coordinator (TWC) certification., • First Aid at Work qualification., • Experience developing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)., • SSSTS certification., • Background in groundworks, earthworks, and reinforced concrete., • Previous exposure to nuclear or high-security environments.
