Qualified SEN Teacher/Tutor Required - Play-Based Therapeutic Learning \n We are seeking a qualified teacher with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to provide one-to-one support for a 7-year-old autistic, non-verbal child (Year 2) based in SS14 starting in September. \n The ideal candidate will be warm, patient, and highly skilled in delivering learning through a play-based, therapeutic approach, recognising that engagement, communication, and emotional regulation are fundamental to progress. About the Role\n This position combines tuition and play-based therapeutic learning, with a focus on developing communication, engagement, confidence, and early academic skills in a way that is tailored to the child's individual needs and interests. About the Child\n\n • 7 years old (Year 2)\n, • Autistic\n, • Non-verbal\n, • Benefits from a child-centred, play-led approach\n, • Requires a tutor who can build a trusting relationship and create a positive, engaging learning environment\nKey Responsibilities\n\n, • Deliver bespoke one-to-one sessions that combine learning with play-based therapeutic activities\n, • Support the development of communication, interaction, attention, and engagement skills\n, • Incorporate literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum-based learning where appropriate and meaningful\n, • Adapt teaching methods to suit the child's strengths, interests, and sensory profile\n, • Use visual supports and alternative communication methods where appropriate\n, • Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents/carers\nEssential Requirements\n\n, • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification\n, • Experience teaching and/or supporting autistic children\n, • Understanding of non-verbal communication and autism-friendly teaching strategies\n, • Ability to deliver learning through play, creativity, and therapeutic engagement\n, • Patient, flexible, and nurturing approach\n, • Enhanced DBS check\nDesirable Experience\n\n, • SEN specialism or additional SEN qualifications\n, • Experience with AAC, PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems\n, • Knowledge of sensory processing needs and emotional regulation strategies\n, • Previous experience in SEND schools, specialist provisions, or one-to-one tutoring\nHours and Pay\n\n, • Flexible hours to be agreed\n, • Competitive hourly rate, dependent on qualifications and experience\n\n We are looking for a qualified teacher who understands that meaningful learning starts with connection, engagement, and play, and who can create enjoyable, therapeutic sessions that support both developmental and academic progress.
