    Event Chef / Cook Required Company: Island Stove Event's & Catering Location: Outdoor & High-Volume Event Catering About Us Island Stove is a high-volume event and catering operator specializing in vibrant West African cuisine. We are currently seeking an experienced and dependable Chef / Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. Role Overview In this role, you will play a key part in food preparation and live service, ensuring all dishes meet our exceptional standards of taste, quality, and presentation in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Culinary Execution: Prepare and cook core menu offerings to standard, including West African specialties (Jollof rice, Fried rice, Suya, grilled meats), alongside fried chicken, chips, sides (plantain, coleslaw), and signature sauces., • Service Efficiency: Maintain fast, consistent production during peak service periods while managing stock, food prep, and closing station clean-downs., • Quality & Portion Control: Ensure consistent food presentation, taste profiles, and adherence to portion guidelines., • Food Safety & Hygiene: Strictly uphold HACCP standards, allergen management procedures, and temperature monitoring (cooking and hot-holding)., • Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation at all times., • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with both kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel to streamline service operations. Requirements & Experience • Proven experience in a commercial kitchen, high-volume event, festival, or catering environment., • Demonstrated ability to maintain quality and composure under high-pressure, fast-paced conditions., • Strong knowledge of West African cuisine (preferred, but not required)., • Robust understanding of food safety standards, hygienic preparation practices, and safe food handling., • Excellent punctuality, work ethic, and communication skills., • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods in an outdoor catering setup.

You will help deliver excellent customer service while maintaining the high standards expected across A.K. Whelan Pubs. This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Key Responsibilities • Provide friendly, efficient and professional customer service., • Prepare and serve drinks correctly and promptly., • Operate the till and handle cash and card payments accurately., • Maintain excellent cleanliness throughout the bar and customer areas., • Keep draught bridges, T-bars, fonts and cask ale pumps clean and presentable., • Replenish stock, fridges and bar supplies throughout each shift., • Follow Challenge 25 and all licensing requirements., • Support opening and closing procedures., • Follow company policies, health and safety procedures and responsible service standards., • Assist with live sport, entertainment and busy weekend trading., • Communicate stock shortages, maintenance issues or customer concerns promptly to management., • Work positively with colleagues to deliver a great customer experience.
