Locum Consultant Radiologist — 12-month fixed term post based at PRUH and south sites. The role aims to enhance delivery of Acute Radiology and Rapid Diagnostic Clinic Services at PRUH and support general Radiology workloads. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team providing a range of Radiology services. A special interest in Cardiothoracic and MSK diagnostic imaging is preferable. The department has rolled out a home reporting solution for radiologists, enabling potential home reporting DCC sessions. The appointee will contribute to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups, and will participate in developing and delivering these services based on interests and experience. We are seeking a proactive, compassionate and committed colleague to share in the challenge of providing patient-centred acute and specialist care. The department offers a broad range of sub-specialist opportunities, including development within interventional radiology and specialist areas in head and neck, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal and acute radiology. This post is currently for a 6 PA (Clinical Assistant/Consultant) post with potential to increase PA availability in the future. It is desirable to be fully GMC registered with Licence to Practice and to be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining CCT or equivalent at interview. On-call commitment is aimed at 1:16. CT scans are outsourced to a tele-radiology company overnight on weekdays and during weekends. Weekend on-call involves at least 3 hours on-site DCC each day to cover acute ultrasound work. The Trust is committed to sustainable healthcare and the Green Plan. • Together with colleagues, provide high-quality patient care and manage the Department effectively., • Share responsibility for 24/7 cover of the Unit on a rota basis, including annual leave and sickness as detailed in the contract., • Provide clinical supervision of junior medical/dental practitioners as a shared responsibility with other consultants., • Carry out teaching, examinations and accreditation duties, contribute to CPD and clinical governance initiatives., • Attend outpatient clinic commitments at peripheral hospitals as agreed with Care Group management., • Contribute to Care Group research within the Trust’s R&D framework., • Contribute to audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality reviews, Clinical Governance programmes and Learning from Deaths initiatives., • Contribute to the Care Group Business Plan and liaise with internal and external agencies on service plans and developments., • Operate within the contracted level of service and planning for the service(s)., • Provide professional leadership for all staff in the specialty and support post-qualification education and training., • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain staff productivity and job satisfaction, including involvement in the appraisal process where appropriate., • Undertake Care Group management duties as agreed with management teams., • Registerable medical qualification with Full FRCR or equivalent, • Full Registration with GMC; training in Clinical Radiology, • Name on GMC Specialist Register on appointment date or within 6 months of CCT, • Wide experience in all aspects of Radiology, with award of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by GMC or CESR., • Specialist training in Cardiothoracic and MSK imaging, • Experience in day-to-day organisation of Radiology services in a busy teaching hospital, • Familiarity with information technology and PACS; IT skills relevant to radiology, • Understanding of the UK NHS structure and related initiatives, • Demonstrated leadership within multidisciplinary teams, • Understanding of medical audit principles and experience completing audit projects, • Management course or qualification; audit publications, • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and exam preparation, • Teaching skills course or qualification, • Strong understanding of medical audit principles; completion of audit projects and publications, • Experience in clinical research; publications of relevant reviews or case reports; research experience in radiology This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure to be submitted to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
