In-patient Provision There is no designated inpatient provision on island but the team provide flexible intensive packages of care for children and young people with severe or complex mental health difficulties. The packages of care can be provided both for assessment and treatment working jointly with other services including Paediatrics, Adult Mental Health and Children’s Services (Social Care). Both the paediatric ward (Robin Ward) and acute adult mental health ward (Orchard Ward) are used for young people who require admission to hospital. Robin Ward will admit young people up to their 17th birthday. The postholder will be clinically responsible for young people admitted to Robin Ward and Orchard Ward under their care and will be expected to undertake reviews of these patients. All those under 16, and most under 18 admitted to Orchard Ward are cared for separately to the other in-patients if possible or are under continuous observation for safeguarding reasons. When necessary young people can be transferred to the UK for inpatient treatment. However the postholder will be required to attend training to become an Approved Practitioner under the Mental Health (Jersey) Law 2016. Population and CAMHS Caseload • The population of Jersey at the end of 2024 was estimated to be 104,540 with approximately 22,910 under the age of 19., • The current number of cases open to CAMHS is 1885 end of 2025., • The total number of new referrals received in 2025 was 906, • The current postholder’s (locum) caseload is approximately 90. Most of the cases on the caseload will have an allocated care co-ordinator but there may be some exceptions to this. Most new assessments are undertaken by other members of the MDT, but some will require initial medical assessment. There are no fixed requirements for new assessments and follow up appointments. On average there maybe 1-2 new assessments per week and 15-20 follow up appointments, depending on the complexity of the cases and other commitments., • The postholder will be required to participate in the daytime (9am – 5pm) medical on call rota for 1-2 days per week. The initial duty response (including hospital liaison assessments) is made by the duty worker who will contact the doctor on call if required. With an expansion of our crisis services to cover the out of hours period there may be a requirement to provide medical cover for this in the future. Annual leave, Study leave and Job Plan • Consultants are entitled to 30 days of annual leave increasing to 32 days after 7 years’ service (at Consultant level) plus bank holidays., • Study leave for the purpose of professional development should be applied for through the Clinical Lead and is approved by the Director of Medical Education. There is a generous study leave budget and there is an entitlement of 30 days every 3 years., • All consultants have a 10 PA contract for public work, which is non-negotiable. The final job plan will vary according to the successful appointees and be agreed by the Clinical Lead and Chief of Service and ratified by the Group Medical Director. The post holder’s job plan will be reviewed annually and will be appraised according to the current guidance., • All timetables will adhere to current Royal College Guidelines, namely:- 7.5 clinical programmed activities (PAs) 1.5 - 2.5 supporting professional activities (SPAs) consisting of: • 1 SPA for clinical learning and preparation for appraisal (including audit, weekly teaching sessions, case presentations, mortality reviews etc), • 1 SPA for managerial activities, service development and quality improvement (subject to agreement), • 0.5 SPA for other SPA activities tba Some SPAs will be annualised rather than represented in the weekly timetable.

Our service users live throughout London and require care and support in their own homes or in our supported living units. Duties of the post are listed below: • Participate in and supervise the delivery of care day-to-day operations in Homecare/supported living unit(s). • Liaise with Care Supervisors ensuring care plans are reviewed regularly and to make any changes required to the care plans and risk assessments accordingly. • To lead introductory visits every time a Care Worker visits a service user for the first time and ensure their competence is in line with organisation standards through effective shadowing. • Monitor all service users receive quality care by the staff. • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation held in service users' folders and all the written reports and administration are up to date. • Management of medication. • To record all necessary information clearly and legibly in line with record keeping policies and procedures. • Responding to the complaints and queries from service users to coordinators. • Liaise with carers/service users ensuring they are informed of any changes. • Have an ability to work in a multi-agency approach. • To follow rota as allocated by the coordinators in both domiciliary care and supported living units. • To be on-call in case of emergency as and when required. • To support care staff in their role by providing guidance and supervising in completing their tasks. • Provide shadow support to all new care staff, supporting them in their performance. • Liaise closely with the coordinators regarding effective rota management, permanent allocation of care & support workers and the updating of Care & Support Plans. • Identify any training needs of junior care workers and inform to the Care supervisor accordingly. • Generally, assists with service users’ overall comfort and well-being. Enables service users to dress, undress, wash, use the toilet, bathe; and prepare and serve meals to service users. • To observe, monitor and report to the Care Manager / Care supervisor, any significant changes in the service user's health or well-being, • Working with other members of the team to ensure high- quality service provision. • To maintain ongoing service user compliance by undertaking care plan and risk assessment reviews. • Ensure a safe as possible living environment for Service Users whilst respecting Service User’s choice and rights, needs and preferences and promoting independence, choice and control. • To review MAR charts and undertake MAR log audits daily. • Ensuring all services are compliant with the legislation, safeguarding, Health & Safety per CQC standards regulations. • The responsibilities above are not the exhaustive list.
