Machine Operator & Assembly Operative \n Job Title: Machine Operator & Assembly Operative \n Location: Rochdale \n Department: Production / Manufacturing \n Reports To: Production Supervisor / Team Leader \n Working Hours \n\n • Monday to Thursday: 6:00am to 2:30pm\n, • Friday: 6:00am to 11:30am\n, • Total Hours: 37.5 hours per week\n\n Job Purpose \n To operate manufacturing machinery and assemble ironing boards and air dryers in a safe, efficient, and quality-focused environment. The role involves ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high product standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the production process. \n Key Responsibilities \n Machine Operation \n\n • Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery used in the manufacture of ironing boards and air dryers.\n, • Ensure machines are running efficiently and safely.\n, • Conduct routine machine checks and report any faults or maintenance requirements.\n, • Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.\n, • Maintain accurate production records where required.\n\n Assembly Work \n\n • Assemble components and finished products according to specifications and work instructions.\n, • Use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.\n, • Inspect parts and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.\n, • Package completed products ready for dispatch.\n, • Assist with product rework when required.\n\n Quality & Safety \n\n • Follow all company health and safety procedures.\n, • Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).\n, • Identify and report defects, hazards, or quality issues promptly.\n, • Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.\n, • Support quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\n General Duties \n\n • Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.\n, • Assist in other production areas as required.\n, • Participate in training and development activities.\n, • Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.\n\n Skills and Experience \n Essential \n\n • Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.\n, • Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards.\n, • Good attention to detail.\n, • Reliable and punctual.\n, • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.\n, • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.\n\n Desirable \n\n • Experience operating manufacturing machinery.\n, • Experience within metalwork, appliance manufacturing, or assembly production.\n, • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.\n\n Physical Requirements \n\n • Ability to stand for extended periods.\n, • Ability to lift and move materials and products safely.\n, • Manual dexterity for assembly tasks.\n, • Capability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\n\n Personal Attributes \n\n • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.\n, • Dependable and trustworthy.\n, • Quality-conscious with attention to detail.\n, • Flexible and willing to learn new skills.\n, • Committed to maintaining a safe working environment.\n\n Benefits \n\n • Competitive salary.\n, • Overtime opportunities (where available).\n, • Early finish on Fridays.\n\n Job Type: Temporary \n This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing work and takes pride in producing high-quality products while working as part of a motivated production team.
