Proactive Personnel are working closely with a large manufacturer, to recruit a skilled Mechanical Engineer for their team in Ellesmere Port. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and improving mechanical systems and devices within a busy manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes. Knowledge and experience required: • Boiler / steam systems, • Industrial building services (sprinkler systems, CHP, process cooling and heating), • Hydraulics systems, • Pneumatic systems, • Highbay racking, • Conveyor systems, • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery, including bearings, shafts, hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler and plant equipment, • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in production machinery, including high-speed machines, conveyors, and other automated systems, • Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure production targets are met, • Support automation and control system enhancements to increase system reliability and production throughput, • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC), • Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure safe operation of mechanical equipment, • Enforce safe working practices, • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address technical challenges and improve the performance of manufacturing equipment, • Maintain accurate records of all mechanical maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, and system performance, • Generate and review reports on mechanical performance, system issues, and maintenance needs Candidates should be educated to HNC level and have a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience. Ideally, applicants will also hold FLT and Cherry Picker licences. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Carry out routine hygiene and cleaning tasks in designated production and site areas, • Clean production equipment, floors and work surfaces in line with hygiene schedules, • Use cleaning equipment, machinery, and approved chemicals safely and correctly, • Follow site hygiene procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work, • Complete cleaning records and documentation accurately, • Adhere to all health & safety and hygiene policies at all times, • Empty waste bins and manage waste disposal as required, • Report any hygiene, safety, or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly, • Work alongside production teams to ensure cleaning activities support operational requirements REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential • Previous cleaning or hygiene experience (ideally within a manufacturing or production environment), • IPAF / Cherry Picker license highly advantageous but not essential, • Ability to follow instructions and work to set procedures, • Good timekeeping, reliability, and attention to detail, • Awareness of basic health & safety requirements
