Control Systems Engineer – PLC & SCADA Location: Kingston Upon Thames (Hybrid & Flexible Options Available) Travel: Approx. 10% Hybrid: 2/3 days onsite SC cleared or Eligible for SC clearance We are on a mission to solve some of the most complex engineering challenges by shaping the technology and solutions of tomorrow. We’re looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer with strong PLC and SCADA expertise to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and support advanced control systems that play a vital role in mission-critical operations. What You’ll Do • Capture, interpret, and develop customer requirements, • Specify, design, and test solutions for PLC control systems, • Develop PLC software from design formats such as block diagrams, flow charts, or pseudo code, • Manage data communications with third-party equipment, • Configure SCADA/PLC interfaces and drivers, • Validate software designs through analysis and testing, • Produce technical documentation to high standards, • Support project proposals, changes, and reviews, • Contribute to team briefings and project meetings What We’re Looking For • Hands-on experience with Siemens S7-300/400 PLCs (Step 7 Professional Classic), • Expertise in fault tolerant, high availability, and safety-integrated PLC solutions, • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, ModBus, TCP/IP, UDP, ASCII), • 5+ years’ experience in a PLC engineering environment, • Familiarity with testing and commissioning processes, • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, processes, and procedures, • Background in Defence, Maritime, Aerospace, or similarly regulated industries (Oil & Gas, Pharma, PetroChem), • Relevant qualification: Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or Systems Engineering Why Join? • Be part of innovative, impactful projects that contribute to UK defence and global security, • Work with cutting-edge technologies in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment, • Take advantage of professional growth through training, certification, and cross-sector opportunities, • Enjoy flexible working options, including hybrid and compressed work schedules (with every other Friday off), • Benefit from private healthcare, performance bonuses, and career development opportunities Ready to Make an Impact?
