CNC Setter required A well-established Engineering and Industrial Manufacturing organisation is seeking a CNC Setter to join its Plymouth-based facility. Wise Employment, are looking for a CNC Setter to join a fantastic company based in Plymouth. This opportunity, is a Full Time Permanent position where you will be offered a salary between £30,222 - £32,689 per annum, along with some fantastic benefits such as: A 4½ day working week, 25 days’ holiday + Bank Holidays, career development and much more! Your working hours are: 38.25 per week. Monday - Thursday 8.5 hours per day (start time either or ) and Friday 4.25 hours (either or ). The Role The successful candidate will set and operate CNC and manual machines, including lathes, mills, and drill presses, producing components to precise engineering specifications. The role involves working closely with the machine shop team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Key Responsibilities • Set and operate CNC lathes and machining centres, • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and drill presses, • Inspect components to ensure quality and accuracy, • Follow health, safety, and quality procedures, • Support production teams as required Requirements • Proven experience in CNC and manual machining, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, • Experience using precision measuring equipment, • Basic FANUC programming knowledge (desirable), • Computer literate with a strong understanding of health and safety, • Good communication, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude Please note in order to achieve the higher salary band, you must meet and show all the above criteria at interview stages. As an Embedded Software Engineer your Key Responsibilities are: • Design and implement real-time embedded software for motor control applications, • Develop firmware for Microchip PIC microcontrollers (bare-metal and RTOS-based systems), • Optimise code for performance, memory efficiency, and long-term maintainability, • Design and maintain embedded graphical user interface (GUI) solutions for motor control systems, • Interface with low-level hardware peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, USB), • Implement and maintain communication protocols (Modbus, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus DP), • Support hardware development activities, including electronic circuit design and power electronics integration, • Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience, • Strong experience in real-time embedded C development, • Proven experience programming Microchip PIC microcontrollers, • Solid understanding of low-level hardware/software interaction, • Experience working within constrained embedded environments, • Familiarity with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and in-circuit debuggers, • Experience using source control systems and participating in peer code reviews, • Ability to design and troubleshoot electronic circuits, • PCB design experience (Altium Designer preferred), • Understanding of motor control principles and electrical systems integration, • Experience with PC-based development in C# and/or Python If you feel you have what it takes, then do not delay apply today!
