Role Overview An organization is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to support inventory accounting, cost analysis, and financial reporting activities. This role partners closely with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate costing, maintain inventory integrity, and provide meaningful financial analysis that supports business performance and decision-making. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in a product-based or manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities • Manage inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations, account analyses, roll-forwards, and general ledger support, • Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory, cost accounting, and cost of sales reporting, • Analyze product, labor, overhead, and operational costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, • Prepare and review cost of sales reporting, inventory schedules, and related account reconciliations, • Maintain and validate product costing structures and supporting data to ensure accurate financial reporting, • Track and analyze costs across products, projects, or business segments to support profitability and margin analysis, • Prepare recurring financial analyses, inventory reserve calculations, and management reporting packages, • Support physical inventory counts, cycle count programs, and audit requirements by preparing schedules and documentation, • Ensure accurate integration and reconciliation between operational systems and financial reporting systems, • Partner with operations and business leaders to analyze spending trends, review expense classifications, and improve cost visibility, • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and internal controls, • Assist with special projects, ad hoc financial analyses, and process improvement initiatives as needed Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, • Five or more years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or product-based environment, • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting principles, • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and financial modeling techniques, • Experience working with ERP systems and integrated financial reporting environments, • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operational stakeholders, • Self-motivated professional capable of working independently while collaborating across multiple departments, • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
