Job DescriptionJob Title: Facilities MechanicJob Description This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and improving building facilities and equipment in an industrial environment. You will perform a wide range of tasks including HVAC service, light electrical work, plumbing, drywall, painting, and general facility maintenance to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning workplace across multiple shifts. Responsibilities • Perform general facility maintenance and repairs to keep the building and equipment in safe, reliable working condition., • Conduct light electrical work, including tasks involving 120V and 240V systems, under applicable safety guidelines., • Install, modify, and remove interior walls, including putting up and taking down walls as needed for facility changes., • Carry out light painting tasks to maintain a clean, professional appearance of interior and exterior surfaces., • Perform light plumbing work, including basic repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting of building plumbing systems., • Service and maintain HVAC systems, including charging systems and evacuating coolant in accordance with proper procedures., • Support industrial and machine maintenance activities as needed, including mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks., • Execute preventive maintenance on facility and industrial equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and facility issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods., • Assist with building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, drywall repair, and general repairs throughout the facility., • Perform basic PLC troubleshooting to support equipment operation and identify control-related issues., • Work with pneumatics and diesel-powered equipment as needed to support industrial maintenance operations., • Document work performed and communicate maintenance needs or recurring issues to the appropriate stakeholders., • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies while performing maintenance tasks., • Collaborate with other technicians, operations staff, and contractors to complete maintenance projects efficiently.Essential Skills, • Hands-on experience in building facility maintenance, including general facility and building repairs., • Light electrical experience working with 120V and 240V systems., • Experience putting up and taking down walls, including basic carpentry and drywall work., • Ability to perform light painting tasks for interior and exterior surfaces., • Light plumbing experience for facility-related plumbing repairs and maintenance., • HVAC experience, including charging systems and evacuating coolant., • Background in industrial maintenance and machine maintenance in an industrial environment., • Mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems., • Electrical maintenance experience in a facilities or industrial setting., • Experience with preventive maintenance on facility and industrial equipment., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair facility and equipment issues using appropriate tools and techniques., • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting to support equipment operation., • Experience working with pneumatics and diesel-powered equipment., • Ability to perform carpentry tasks related to facility maintenance., • Capability to work across multiple shifts and adapt to changing maintenance priorities.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • EPA Universal license is ideal for candidates working with HVAC systems and refrigerants., • Experience in industrial, facilities, or building maintenance environments., • Bilingual communication skills are preferred to support a diverse workforce., • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in mechanical and electrical systems., • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team., • Attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks safely and correctly., • Willingness to support both facilities and industrial maintenance tasks as needed.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in an industrial facility with a focus on building and equipment maintenance. Work is performed primarily on-site across two shifts: 1st shift from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 12:00 AM. You will work with a variety of tools and equipment related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatics, diesel systems, and general building maintenance. The role involves moving throughout the facility, working both indoors and occasionally outdoors, and handling tasks that may require standing, bending, lifting, and working at heights. You will operate in a safety-conscious environment where adherence to safety procedures, including proper handling of electrical systems and refrigerants, is essential. Dress typically includes practical work attire suitable for an industrial maintenance setting, with appropriate personal protective equipment provided or required as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bay Shore, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
