    Job Summary The General Manager / Assistant General Manager provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial management for our food distribution facility. This role is directly responsible for ensuring peak supply chain efficiency, strict cold chain integrity, regulatory compliance, and a safety-first warehouse culture. You will manage everyday operations—spanning inbound inventory, fleet logistics, vendor relations, and P&L accountability—while mentoring a high-performing operations team to achieve company growth targets. Core Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Fleet Logistics • Direct all day-to-day warehouse operations, including inbound receiving, quality control, inventory management, picking, and staging., • Oversee outbound fleet logistics, ensuring optimal route design, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, and on-time delivery metrics., • Maintain a continuous improvement culture to maximize warehouse space and reduce cycle times. Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance • Enforce absolute compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and local Department of Health regulations., • Guarantee the strict execution of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs)., • Act as the primary point of contact for all external facility audits and government inspections. Financial & Vendor Management • Hold full P&L accountability, actively managing operational budgets, capital expenditures, labor costs, and shrinkage rates., • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify cost-saving initiatives and revenue leakages., • Negotiate strategic service contracts with third-party freight carriers, equipment maintenance vendors, and product suppliers. Team Development & Culture • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse supervisors, drivers, customer service representatives, and sales staff., • Cultivate a transparent, accountable, and rewarding work environment focused on high employee retention and safety., • Oversee labor scheduling and workplace performance metrics to keep operations nimble and properly staffed across all shifts. Required Qualifications • Education: Bachelor’s degree or above (MBA preferred) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field., • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a high-volume distribution or warehousing facility (food or beverage industry required)., • Logistics Acumen: Deep understanding of First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory rotation, food traceability protocols, and shelf-life tracking. Duties • Greet customers warmly, listen attentively to their vehicle concerns, and accurately record service requests., • Provide detailed explanations of necessary repairs and maintenance services, utilizing estimating software and auto service management tools., • Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake repairs, alignments, suspension work, and transmission diagnostics to enhance customer satisfaction and dealership revenue., • Prepare clear, detailed service estimates using computer-aided vehicle damage estimating systems and communicate these effectively to clients., • Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of all services., • Manage cash handling procedures accurately while processing payments and issuing receipts., • Maintain ongoing client communication throughout the service process, ensuring transparency and building trust., • Document all work performed in the dealership’s service writing system and follow up with customers post-service for feedback or additional needs. Skills • Proven experience as an automotive service advisor or in auto service management within a repair shop environment., • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience as a mechanic or service technician preferred., • Proficiency with estimating software, auto estimating tools., • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and professionally., • Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust., • Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, collision repair processes, oil change procedures, brake repair, wheel alignments, suspension systems, shocks & struts, brake systems, transmissions, tire services, and other automotive repair specialties., • Experience with auto service writing software and familiarity with dealership operations is highly desirable., • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and client communication., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive various vehicles safely.
