The Director will recommend to the Sr. Director/Vice President of Patient Care Services those areas of clinical practice and administration requiring evaluation and change and implements nursing and other patient care programs. The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop, validate and run High Resolution Mass Spectrometry-based quantitative drug and exposomics assays in support of the care of patients with obesity and diabetes and in support of patients with psychiatric disorders. The ARPA-H funded project is part of a multi-institutional effort (IndiPHARM) led by Dr Gary Miller from Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health. The project itself is led by Drs Serge Cremers, and Alex Lyashchenko who will be overseeing the activities of the fellow in the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory of the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The work is to lead to several scientific publications and will provide a unique opportunity for clinical pathologists and clinical chemists to gain experience in the development of highly complex mass spectrometry assays and their application in patient care. For other MDs, PhDs, and/or PharmDs with experience in this area, the work not only provides a unique opportunity to develop highly complex mass spectrometry assays for patient care, but also an opportunity to be trained as clinical laboratory director and clinical pharmacologist. Job Function: Develop, validate and implement High Resolution Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (Exploris-120)- based panel assays to quantify drugs, metabolomic and exposomic markers in blood of patients in support of their care. Research Responsibilities Laboratory-based research efforts will focus on the molecular biology of gene therapy for malignant and non-malignant diseases with the goal of include establishing a platform for tracking clonal expansion and monitoring transgene integration and expression in gene therapy trials, as well as participating in the development of novel strategies for the treatment of globin disorders. Research projects will be conducted under the mentorship of senior investigators at CUIMC and CICET, including Drs. Each year, CTV manages more than 400 invention disclosures, 100 license deals, and 20 - 30 new IP-backed startups, involving over 750 inventors across Columbia's campuses. CTV currently has over 1,500 patent assets available for licensing, across research fields such as bio, IT, clean tech, devices, big data, nanotechnology, materials science, and more. CTV has extensive experience founding and supporting technology initiatives to enable promising technologies to accelerate across the "valley of death" and reach the market as quickly and successfully as possible. The successful candidate will care for patients receiving cellular immunotherapies (such as CAR T-cells), including pre- and post-infusion, develop clinical standards and guidelines for patients receiving these therapies, and provide oversight of clinical operations and clinical research related to cellular immunotherapies for pediatric oncology patients. They will collaborate with investigators at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the NCI-designated Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICC) to develop and/or participate in PI-initiated clinical trials of novel immunotherapeutic treatments, and will be expected to oversee a robust pediatric clinical trials portfolio that will also include consortium and industry-sponsored trials. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking social workers assigned to work in the Psychiatry FPO at CUIMC. These are full-time, clinical positions that will involve seeing patients in our comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) programs and our intensive outpatient DBT programs, in addition to carrying general cases within the Psychiatry FPO.
