Job DescriptionJob Title: Industrial Painter – 2nd Shift Job Description This role is responsible for preparing metal assemblies and applying powder coating finishes that meet strict quality and design specifications. You will work with industrial spray equipment, ovens, and related tools to ensure coatings are applied accurately, cured properly, and inspected thoroughly. The position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment on the 2nd shift. Responsibilities • Prepare metal surfaces and structures for powder coating, including cleaning, sanding, and other prep work as required., • Apply powder coatings and industrial paints according to blueprints, drawings, and design specifications., • Set up, operate, and adjust spray guns, sprayers, and paint booth equipment to ensure proper coating application., • Monitor coating thickness using mil readings and track material usage to maintain consistency and reduce waste., • Load and unload metal parts into industrial ovens for curing, following established procedures., • Regulate oven temperature and airflow during the baking and curing process to achieve correct finish quality., • Inspect finished products for coating defects such as runs, orange peel, thin spots, or contamination, and troubleshoot issues promptly., • Perform basic preventative maintenance on painting, powder coating, and sandblasting equipment to keep operations running smoothly., • Accurately complete required production and quality documentation and follow all work instructions and interactive diagrams., • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of safety harnesses and personal protective equipment when required., • Collaborate with team members and assist with additional tasks in the department as needed to support production goals.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or GED., • 1–3 years of manufacturing or industrial painting experience (preferred)., • Experience with powder coat painting in an industrial environment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions., • Hands-on experience using spray equipment, spray guns, sprayers, and paint booth systems., • Practical knowledge of powder coating processes, including sealing, baking, and finishing., • Understanding of coating inspection methods, including monitoring coating thickness (mil readings)., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct coating defects., • Effective problem-solving skills in a production and equipment-focused environment., • Self-motivated with flexibility to work assigned 2nd shift hours., • Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and machinery, following all safety protocols.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with industrial painting, powder coating, and sandblasting in a manufacturing setting., • Comfort working with interactive diagrams and digital work instructions., • Ability to manage material usage efficiently to support cost-effective production., • Strong communication skills to work closely with supervisors, quality teams, and co-workers., • Reliability and consistency in meeting production schedules and quality standards., • Willingness to learn new techniques and processes through ongoing training and coaching.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility in Binghamton, NY, working on 2nd shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. You will work in a production environment with heavy equipment, machinery, and typical industrial noise levels. The role requires standing for up to six or more hours per day, with some tasks performed while sitting for short periods. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper ergonomic techniques. The facility features state-of-the-art equipment and well-maintained work areas with good lighting, supporting safe and efficient operations in painting, powder coating, and related processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Binghamton, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
