Position: Industrial Hygiene Professional Industry: Science Technical Location: Iselin, NJ Apex Companies, LLC seeks candidates for a full-time, experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or certified-eligible, to provide personnel and area exposure assessment services to local, regional, and national clients. Qualified candidates must have the skill, technical experience and training to self-perform or manage industrial hygiene projects ranging from small to large. All candidates must be capable of researching and accurately referencing standards (e.g., OSHA, ACGIH, etc.) and have a working knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. Additional requirements include developing cost estimates, preparation of proposals and sampling plans, advising and mentoring junior level staff as well as managing/interfacing with clients (building of relationships). Strong interpersonal and writing skills are necessary. OSHA and previous consulting experience are required. Your Responsibilities as an Industrial Hygiene Professional: You will be responsible for evaluating workplace health exposure risks for a wide variety of clients in various industries. Qualified candidates should have experience performing the following tasks: • Conduct qualitative exposure assessments, including basic characterization, identification of similar exposure groups, and development of sampling plans., • Plan and conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys for chemical, physical and biological hazards., • Interpret exposure monitoring results and develop appropriate recommendations to control exposures., • Author detailed technical reports supported with sampling, analysis, and/or evaluation data; citation of applicable references, and recommendations to remove or manage the exposure risk., • Recognize and investigate the potential for health effects associated with chemical agents without authoritative occupational exposure limits., • Defines fundamental concepts of inferential and deterministic statistics in order to select appropriate statistical tools (both parametric and non-parametric) to determine exposure outcomes., • Applies statistical techniques to analyze exposure trends over time., • Defines strategies for ongoing exposure monitoring to assure timely identification of deviations in exposure profiles and to ensure controls continue to be effective., • Assesses compliance with state and/or federal health-based standards., • Develops and presents industrial hygiene training programs at client sites., • BS in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or other related field., • Client facing skills with ability to grow opportunities., • MS or MSPH or MPH preferred but not needed., • 5-8 years of experience providing industrial hygiene consulting services or management of industrial hygiene programs including technical writing, technical oversight, and project management., • Certification or eligibility to earn certification in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH) from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene., • Ability to mentor and train staff., • Strong technical writing and communication skills., • Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Job Description The Plant Project Engineer I will provide engineering support and project leadership for the plant The expectation is that this role will spend approximately 60% of the time on project related activities and 40% of the time on plant support activities. At times either activity could exceed expectation. The Plant Project Engineer I role will include project implementation, production and equipment improvement initiatives and support the daily operations of the plant to ensure all safety and quality goals are achieved. Qualifications • Project management, project planning, project coordinator, purchasing, and supervision of contractors for various projects to assure completion on a timely basis within budget., • Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements., • Lead and assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance., • Report to the Director of Engineering with a dotted line to the Plant Manager., • Maintain appropriate communication/relationships with all employees, vendors, visitors., • Provide the necessary safety training to contractors and others as necessary., • Follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies., • Attend daily production/quality meetings., • Provide technical support for plant processes and improvements., • Observe facility operations and assist with problem solving on a regular basis., • Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven ability working well with people., • Ability to identify critical areas for improvement and develop plans for correction., • Competent in making sketches, drawings, line layouts, plans etc., and written instructions as necessary to affect equipment maintenance / repair., • Participative team attitude skills with all personnel to assure production standards, safety, and sanitation levels are maintained as defined by the Mission Statement., • Good skills in ammonia refrigeration, steam generation and PLC’s., • Good problem solving skills through team and individual efforts. BS degree in engineering or technical related area from an accredited college/university; Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred Related Experience Proven Engineering experience of 3 – 5 years, project management is a plus Equipment/Software Skills Working knowledge in personal computers (Microsoft software necessary, Project management, Microsoft Project preferred) and basic understanding with Allen Bradley PLC. Knowledge of CMMS such as MP2 is a plus. Must have good working knowledge of general PC systems. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations None required, any maintenance related licenses would be a plus such as PE, ASME welding, PLC’s , wastewater, etc. Additional Information Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, and stand. The employee will also be required to use hands, arms and fingers. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions, sitting at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere ( 35-45 degrees) , sometimes in engine room ( + 95 degrees in hot months).
