Job Description General Bar & Events Manager • Location: Ridgewood, NJ, NJ, • Position Type: Full-Time (Core operating days: Thursday – Sunday), • Compensation: $65,000-$75,000 Base Salary + Performance/Event-Based Incentives (Commission on private event bookings) Job Overview Are you an experienced hospitality professional looking to run a venue like it’s your own? We are looking for a dynamic, highly autonomous General Bar & Events Manager to launch and operate a brand-new, boutique bar concept in Bergen County. In this role, you won't just be managing a shift; you will be the driving force behind the business. You will wear multiple hats—acting as the head bartender during public hours, the lead salesperson for private event rentals, and the operational backbone of the venue. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mixology, a knack for event planning, and the business acumen to maximize revenue through private bookings. Key Responsibilities 1. Day-to-Day Bar Operations & Bartending • Act as the primary, hands-on bartender during public operating hours (Thursday – Sunday)., • Curate and maintain the beverage program (cocktail menus, wine lists, and beer selections)., • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure optimal stock levels and cost controls., • Maintain strict compliance with all New Jersey ABC laws, local Bergen County health codes, and safety regulations. 1. Event Sales & Management (The Growth Engine) • Actively market and rent out the venue for private parties, corporate functions, and special events., • Coordinate all event logistics, acting as the main point of contact for clients from inquiry to execution., • Maximize Calendar Efficiency: Strategically book private events, understanding that the venue will close to the public on days an event is secured. 1. Staffing & Leadership • Recruit, hire, train, and schedule a small, high-performing team of part-time bartenders/servers as needed for busy nights or large private events., • Foster a welcoming, high-energy environment for both staff and patrons. Qualifications & Experience • Experience: 3+ years in bar management, restaurant management, or a high-volume bartending role with administrative responsibilities. Event coordination experience is a massive plus., • Licensing: Valid New Jersey TAM or TIPS certification (or willingness to obtain immediately). Knowledge of NJ ABC laws is required., • Skills: Strong mixology skills, excellent communication, and proficiency with POS systems and inventory software., • Mindset: Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and comfortable working with minimal oversight. You enjoy the hustle of building a customer base and driving event sales., • Availability: Must be fully available Thursday through Sunday (including late nights and holidays).
