Job DescriptionPosition: Skilled Handyman Reports To: Lead Carpenter / General Contractor Location: New Jersey job sites Compensation: • Trial Phase (First 3 Months): $25/hour, • Progression (Months 4–9): $25 - $27/hour (based on performance), • Advancement (End of Year 1): $27–$32/hour (based on performance and tenure)Position Summary We are seeking a well-rounded and skilled Handyman to join our growing construction team. This role requires a versatile tradesperson who can execute complete bathroom and kitchen renovations from start to finish with minimal instruction. The Skilled Handyman will not serve as the Lead Carpenter but must demonstrate the ability to independently manage all phases of residential renovations, seeking support only when needed. Opportunities for advancement are available in the future when consistent performance, work ethic, and leadership skills are demonstrated. Key Responsibilities • Perform full-scale kitchen and bathroom renovations, including demolition, layout adjustments, installation, and finishing., • Frame walls, ceilings, and floors to code using proper materials and techniques., • Install and finish drywall, trim, doors, cabinets, and hardware with precision., • Lay and grout tile (floor, wall, and backsplash) with proper waterproofing and leveling practices., • Perform basic to advanced plumbing tasks, including fixture installation, rough-ins, and repairs and/or changes to plumbing during renovations (under supervision where required by code/licensure)., • Perform basic to advanced electrical tasks such as wiring outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and appliances (under supervision where required by code/licensure)., • Ensure proper waterproofing and moisture protection in wet areas (bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms)., • Safely operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment., • Work collaboratively with the Lead Carpenter, crew members, subcontractors, and project managers to meet project deadlines. It is as simple as that., • Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes., • Communicate proactively about progress, challenges, and material needs.Required Skills & Qualifications, • 5+ years of hands-on handyman/carpenter experience in residential construction/renovation., • Proven ability to complete kitchens and bathrooms with little to no supervision., • Strong proficiency in:, • Framing & Finish Carpentry, • Plumbing installation & fixture setting, • Electrical wiring & fixture installation, • Tiling & waterproofing systems, • Cabinet hanging and millwork installation, • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications., • Knowledge of NJ and NY residential building codes., • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail., • Own reliable set of hand tools; company provides specialty equipment., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.Work Conditions, • Full-time position (40+ hours/week), with occasional overtime as needed., • Work performed indoors and outdoors at active construction sites., • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.Growth & Compensation Path, • Trial Phase (0–3 months): $25/hour, performance evaluation at 90 days., • Months 4–9: $25 - $27/hour based on skill performance and reliability., • End of Year 1: $27 - $32/hour based on performance, independence, and contribution to project delivery., • Continued growth potential based on leadership, specialized certifications, and company needs.
