Job DescriptionJob Title: Seamstress / Fabric WorkerJob Description The Seamstress / Fabric Worker fabricates, alters, repairs, and finishes military uniforms, ceremonial garments, and specialty apparel with a strong focus on precision, durability, and appearance. You will work with industrial sewing equipment, interpret patterns and specifications, and ensure every garment meets exacting quality standards. This role suits a detail-oriented professional with proven experience in garment construction, alterations, and textile production. Responsibilities • Construct, alter, and repair military uniforms, dress uniforms, ceremonial attire, and specialty garments to specified standards., • Measure, mark, cut, sew, and assemble fabric components according to approved patterns, measurements, and specifications., • Operate industrial sewing machines, sergers, double-needle machines, and other garment construction and textile production equipment safely and efficiently., • Perform garment fittings, assess required adjustments, and complete alterations to ensure proper fit and a professional, polished appearance., • Attach military insignia, patches, rank devices, braids, buttons, closures, and decorative trim in accordance with established standards and placement guidelines., • Inspect completed garments for quality, accuracy, durability, and compliance with required specifications and quality control standards., • Repair damaged uniforms by replacing zippers, buttons, closures, seams, and other garment components as needed., • Maintain accurate production records, document work performed, and track work orders through completion., • Organize fabrics, trims, supplies, and materials to support efficient workflow and production schedules., • Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized work area., • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and internal customers to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of orders.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sewing, tailoring, garment manufacturing, or textile production., • Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and garment construction equipment, including industrial sewing and double-needle machines., • Demonstrated skill in sewing, garment assembly, and production processes., • Ability to read and interpret patterns, measurements, specifications, and production instructions accurately., • Strong hand-sewing, alteration, and finishing skills for detailed and precise garment work., • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship and consistent results., • Ability to meet production deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality standards., • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple work orders and priorities effectively.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working with uniforms, ceremonial garments, or specialty apparel., • Familiarity with quality control practices in garment manufacturing or textile production environments., • Comfort working with industrial sewing, serging, pressing, and related textile production tools., • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and internal customers to support production goals.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a professional textile and garment production environment that uses industrial sewing machines, sergers, pressing equipment, and other specialized tools. You will work around fabric, trims, and related materials in a shop or production floor setting that requires adherence to safety procedures and maintenance of a clean, organized workspace. Hours typically follow a standard production schedule, with a focus on meeting work order deadlines and supporting an efficient, team-based workflow. Appropriate attire is expected for a workshop environment, ensuring safety and comfort while working with industrial equipment and materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Point, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $37.00/hr.
