Job Description The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) is seeking a Staff Criticalist to join our team of ten that currently work in the Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Department. About Emergency & Critical Care at AMC The AMC is one of the nation's largest facilities for animal care, research, and education. The state-of-the-art hospital operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, with 55,000 patient visits annually. Over 140 veterinarians comprise the professional staff, representing all specialties, and providing a progressive, stimulating, and rewarding working environment. The ECC Department is currently comprised of ten board-certified specialists in ECC, seven internship-trained emergency doctors, nine residents, 35 licensed technicians (several with their VTS in ECC), and 23 assistants. Job Description The Animal Medical Center's world-renowned Cancer Institute is seeking a board-certified (ACVIM or ECVIM) medical oncologist to join our dedicated oncology team, which includes medical, radiation, and surgical oncology. A leading animal hospital with a 115-year legacy, we offer specialty, emergency, and primary care to over 55,000 patient visits annually. About The Cancer Institute at the Animal Medical Center Modeled after progressive, patient-centered human cancer hospitals, the Animal Medical Center's Cancer Institute is a revolutionary medical center created to provide integrative and comprehensive care for pets diagnosed with cancer. This innovative design enables our staff to deliver on the Institute's core mission – to care for more animals, focus on early detection, maximize the amount of time pet parents can spend with their beloved pets while maintaining a good quality of life, and work toward a cure through advanced research. Our state-of-the-art Cancer Institute is recently renovated, and the hospital underwent a major expansion and completed a renovation to add 11,000 square feet of new clinical and client space while simultaneously renovated 26,000 existing feet to ensure AMC remains at the forefront of veterinary medicine and make way for new and expanded services. The Cancer Institute consists of three ACVIM board-certified oncologists, one ACVR board-certified radiation oncologist, and one ACVS board-certified Fellow in Surgical Oncology, three residents in medical oncology, two residents in radiation oncology, one specialty intern in medical oncology, and 32 rotating general interns. Supporting services to the Cancer Institute include high-field MRI, 64-slice CT with advanced reconstruction capabilities, and Interventional Radiology. Additionally, the AMC has an on-site IDEXX laboratory including on-site clinical and anatomical pathologists with stat cytology capabilities. The AMC is equipped with a new Elekta Infinity Linac system with electron and 6-MV photon capability equipped with a 6-degree HexaPOD couch and a cone-beam CT for IMRT, VMAT and SRS and for 4DCT respiratory gating. We are also equipped with the most updated version of the Monaco computer treatment planning system licensed for all 3D IMRT, VMAT and SRS planning as well as for Electron Monte Carlo planning. Our CT couch is equipped with an iBEAM evo CT overlay table for proper CT simulation imaging to match the Linac couch. The Radiation Oncology department is also equipped with a Strontium probe for the treatment of small surface lesions (ex: feline nasal planum SCC, feline cutaneous MCT and avian uropygial SCC). The AMC offers a unique hybrid of academia and clinical practice, that creates a collegial environment within the hospital and promotes inter-departmental consultations and cohesive patient care.
