Job DescriptionJob Title: Facilities Technician Job Description The Facilities Technician performs basic and routine facility maintenance, construction, and repair tasks to keep the building, systems, and equipment operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with service, quality, and safety standards. This role supports a food manufacturing environment and focuses on maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems, as well as general building upkeep. Responsibilities • Install, inspect, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems in accordance with established procedures and safety standards., • Perform routine facility maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and installation of fixtures., • Assist with miscellaneous facility projects such as moving furniture, equipment, or materials within the facility to support operations and layout changes., • Use a work order system to log activities, document completed tasks, and track maintenance history accurately and in a timely manner., • Work with or assist trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs, ensuring coordination of tasks and minimal disruption to operations., • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of facility infrastructure equipment, including fire systems, water systems, HVAC filtering systems, and related components., • Perform routine checks and reporting inspections to ensure the facility meets Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements and internal quality standards., • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment and keep the facility in safe operating condition., • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to support installation, maintenance, and repair work., • Support service and installation activities as needed to maintain or improve facility infrastructure.Essential Skills, • 1–3 years of related experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a similar maintenance role., • Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, including electrical experience sufficient to work on or support HVAC-related tasks., • Basic carpentry skills for tasks such as repairs, framing, and installation of fixtures., • General plumbing skills for routine repairs, maintenance, and installation tasks., • Ability to perform basic electrical work related to building and equipment maintenance., • Experience performing preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to guide installation and repair work., • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements in a production or manufacturing setting., • Ability to use and update a work order system to document maintenance activities., • High school diploma or equivalent.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in a food manufacturing or similarly regulated environment., • Knowledge of safety systems and fire systems within a facility setting., • Understanding of water systems and HVAC filtering systems in an industrial or commercial environment., • Comfort working in a refrigerated environment around 40 degrees for extended periods., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines., • Ability to collaborate effectively with external contractors and internal teams., • Organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and inspection routines.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene guidelines. The environment requires adherence to specific dress and appearance standards, including no jewelry and no make-up while on the production floor. The position works in a refrigerated area maintained at approximately 40 degrees for the full shift, so you should be comfortable working in a cold environment and wearing appropriate cold-weather work attire provided or approved by the facility. Work is performed around mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems, using standard maintenance tools and equipment, and following detailed standard operating procedures to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
