Food and Benefits Access Strategy Our Food and Benefits Access strategy aims to ensure that all New Yorkers have dignified access to culturally appropriate, nutritious food that meets dietary requirements, as well as support for stable housing. The FBA unit partners with more than 500 CBOs and collaborates with network leaders through the Consortium (partnership with City Harvest and the Food Bank for New York City) and the Policy Committee on NYC Hunger Resources. In collaboration with leading food assistance providers, FBA advocates for system-level solutions that reduce the need for emergency food and provide an improved experience for emergency food providers (EFPs), neighbors and communities. Access to Food and Shelter: FBA increases access to healthy food through flexible, nutrition-based food funding and local produce initiatives for emergency food providers. We support access to nutritious food for individuals with diet-related illnesses in partnership with UWNYC’s Health Equity unit through Connect2Food, a new food is medicine program.Together with partners we provide education and enrollment support in the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), building food budgets for families.We provide eviction prevention and utilities funds to keep New Yorkers in their homes. FBA supports a resilient food system and the local economy through direct purchases from regional farms, food hubs, and distributors who are focused on local food. Capacity Building: FBA aims to increase the efficiency of the emergency food network and ensure a dignified experience for New Yorkers relying on these programs: In partnership with nonprofit and government partners, the FBA unit provides funding for operations support, food safety equipment and supplies to support high standards for client dignity, nutrition, food safety and program management. As part of 1115 Medicaid Waiver implementation project, FBA supports the engagement of CBOs screening of Medicaid members for food insecurity and other social needs in the Bronx through a partnership with the Bronx Social Care Network. Data and Systems Change: UWNYC FBA manages and serves as administrator of the FeedNYC data system, the central data reporting system for more than 1000 CBOs. The data system is operated in partnership with the Policy Committee on NYC Hunger Resources and serves as a rich resource on emergency food in NYC. In collaboration with the Consortium and NYC’s top food assistance nonprofit leaders, UWNYC engages government, corporate and other stakeholders to advocate for system level solutions that address the root causes of hunger to reduce reliance on the emergency food network. FBA participates in collaborations that build the advocacy muscle of nonprofit leaders through advocacy days and conferences. Position Description Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Impact Officer, the Vice President is responsible for strategic direction, management, and implementation of UWNYC’s Food and Benefits Access portfolio of legacy programs, collaborative efforts, and cross-sectoral initiatives. This includes foundational programs Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP), Nourish NY, Food Support Connections (FSC), and emerging food security initiatives including our food is medicine initiative “Connect2Food” and partnerships to increase access to the 11115 Medicaid Waiver. This position requires knowledge and experience in food systems and public health, as well as respect for community-based work and the emergency food network. Along with developing and managing FBA initiatives, the VP develops and manages strategic partnerships with government, funders, and other external stakeholders to drive system change. The VP is responsible for leading and managing the Food and Benefits Access team including UWNYC staff, temporary employees, and consultants. They will ensure the sound financial management of the unit ensuring budgets are within guidelines and in compliance with contracts. The VP participates in fundraising, resource development, and promotion of Food and Benefits Access initiatives with the support of Resource Development and the Marketing and Communications teams by informing messaging and serving as a key UWNYC spokesperson and thought leader. Job Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership In partnership with SVP for Community Impact, the VP of FBA sets strategic direction for FBA initiatives to ensure well-designed, implemented, and resourced programs and strategies. The VP also plays a key strategic leadership role within the Community Impact department, cross-functionally with their internal peers in the Community Impact Department (Education Equity, Health Equity, and Justice and Opportunity) as well as Government Relations and Advocacy, Marketing & Communications and Resource Development. The VP will also serve as an ambassador for FBA and UWNYC with external stakeholders and peers including the Policy Committee on NYC Hunger Resources, the Consortium, with community partners, and corporate, philanthropic, and government funders. We are currently seeking an IT Support Technician to join our dedicated, onsite IT function based at our Vacoas-Phoenix site here in Mauritius. In this role you will: • Assist in resolving internal customer IT issues., • Deploy, move, migrate and retire computer systems whilst minimising business impact, and maximise their efficiency, • Maintain, modify and support existing applications, • Carry out maintenance of production related equipment, • Seek opportunities to automate processes and reduce repetition of work, • Ensure equipment, software and hardware are in compliance with directives from SGS, • Continuously work to improve technology solutions You will have: • Helpdesk Support experience - or a keen interest in computing/technology, with a desire to develop your career within IT, • Accurate and attention to detail, • Efficient working style, • Ability to remain well-organized, • Positive, pro-active Team player, • Professional and effective communicator
