Job Description Job Title: Electrical Foreman Job Description This role leads electrical installations on high-end retail and large commercial projects, ensuring safe, code-compliant, and high-quality work. You oversee conduit and wiring installations, fire alarm systems, lighting and dimming controls, and mechanical power connections while guiding and supporting field electricians. You apply strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety practices to deliver reliable installations on schedule. Responsibilities • Bend, thread, and install EMT, aluminum, and galvanized conduit from 1/2" through 4" using manual and hydraulic benders, ensuring clean, accurate, and code-compliant runs., • Operate pulling machines, threading tools, hydraulic benders, and related equipment safely and efficiently for conduit and wire installations., • Read and interpret electrical drawings, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), elevations, dimensions, and other construction documents to plan and execute installations accurately., • Install, wire, and terminate fire alarm systems in accordance with fire alarm schematics and applicable NYC fire alarm codes, including devices, wiring, and terminations., • Perform data cabling work including Cat6 and RJ45 terminations, ensuring proper labeling, routing, and testing as required., • Install and wire receptacles, lighting fixtures, switching devices, and associated controls, including understanding and implementing dimming systems., • Install, program, and troubleshoot lighting dimming systems and related control components to ensure proper operation and integration., • Install and connect condensing units, air handlers, condensate pumps, and related mechanical equipment, including associated disconnects and control wiring., • Install and wire disconnect switches, end-of-line boxes, cabinets, transformers, meter banks, trough, and wiremold in accordance with drawings and codes., • Lay out, install, and troubleshoot 3-way and 4-way switching circuits, identifying and correcting electrical faults, shorts, and poor connections., • Manage and work within electrical panels, including live parts, while strictly adhering to electrical safety practices and NFPA 70E guidelines., • Perform load calculations and apply knowledge of conductor sizing, including AWG to MCM, to ensure properly sized feeders and branch circuits., • Guide and support electricians in basic electrical tasks such as wire pulling, box mounting, splicing, and receptacle installation, ensuring consistent quality., • Ensure all work complies with NYC and National Electrical Code requirements and project specifications., • Provide clear direction to team members, delegate tasks, and verify that work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule., • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues related to power distribution, lighting, controls, and mechanical power connections., • Follow and enforce all safety procedures on site, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards., • Proficiency in bending, threading, and installing EMT, aluminum, and galvanized conduit from 1/2" through 4"., • Full operational skills with pulling machines, threading tools, and hydraulic benders., • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, RCPs, elevations, and dimensional plans., • Experience installing and wiring fire alarm systems, including interpreting fire alarm schematics and applying NYC fire alarm codes., • Skill in installing and terminating data cabling, including Cat6 and RJ45 terminations., • Strong ability to wire and install receptacles, lighting, switching devices, and dimming systems., • Experience installing and troubleshooting dimming systems and lighting controls., • Knowledge of installing and wiring condensing units, air handlers, and condensate pumps., • Experience installing disconnect switches, end-of-line boxes, cabinets, transformers, meter banks, trough, and wiremold., • Proficiency with 3-way and 4-way switching circuits and troubleshooting electrical faults, shorts, and poor connections., • Full knowledge of electrical panels, live parts, and live work practices, with a strong focus on electrical safety., • NFPA 70E training and application of electrical safety procedures., • Good working knowledge of NYC and National Electrical Code requirements., • Ability to perform load calculations and familiarity with conductor sizing from AWG to MCM., • Solid understanding of basic electrical concepts, wire pulling, box mounting, and splicing., • Ability to work safely and follow instructions from supervisory personnel without issue., • OSHA 30 certification., • SST (Site Safety Training) certification., • Experience wiring office fit-out spaces and commercial interiors., • Knowledge of conduit bending formulas and their practical application in the field., • Basic and advanced knowledge of hydraulic benders and their safe operation., • Familiarity with AWG sizing to at least #6 conductors, with broader knowledge up to MCM considered an asset., • Basic knowledge of condensing units, air handlers, and condensate pumps, with the ability to expand into more complex mechanical power connections., • Basic knowledge of electrical panels, live parts, and electrical safety, with a desire to maintain and enhance safety competencies., • Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of electrical issues in high-end retail and large commercial environments. Work Environment This role is based in Carteret, NJ, with a typical start time of 6:00 AM, supporting large private commercial electrical projects. You work primarily on high-end retail and substantial commercial sites, often in active construction environments alongside major general contractors. The work involves frequent use of tools such as pulling machines, threading tools, hydraulic benders, and a variety of hand and power tools, as well as regular handling of conduit, wire, and electrical equipment. The environment requires consistent adherence to safety practices, including OSHA and NFPA 70E guidelines, and may involve working in elevated, confined, or otherwise challenging field conditions typical of commercial construction. Attire is standard construction-site appropriate clothing and protective gear as required by site safety rules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carteret, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
