Job Description The Medical Assistant I provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. This individual is also responsible for assisting with clinical, administrative and organizational tasks associated with patient care coordination. Qualifications * Minimum High School Diploma/Equivalent * Completion of a certificate Medical Assistant program from an approved school; certification preferred * Medical Assistant Certificate Collective bargaining unit: SEIU 1199-SLW-Ambulatory SEIU 1199 Ambulatory Agreement at MS St. Luke's and MS West (Offsites), R41 - Neurology R41 - WST, Mount Sinai West Responsibilities * Assists the provider during patient visit via obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pain scale etc) and documenting vital sign results and transcribing medication information into the electronic medical record (EMR). * Obtains prior authorizations for prescriptions and durable medical equipment * Drafts prescription requests in EMR and sends to provider for review, completion and processing * Performs Phlebotomy services inclusive of collecting and processing blood, urine and stool specimens and use of a centrifuge for spinning bloods * Performs POCT (w/the exception of glucose) and documents results in EMR for provider to review * Performs daily Quality Control for all POCT equipment * Orders clinical supplies when necessary * Maintains and stocks exam and consult rooms with clinical supplies and clerical forms used by Providers * Assists providers with procedures by preparing supplies and equipment and acting as a chaperone as needed. * Perform EKGs when ordered by provider * Performs pre-visit planning for Diabetic and CHF patients as per practice guidelines * Monitor and maintains refrigerator temperature logs and biomed expirations for medical equipment * Participates in daily huddles with MDs and other clinical team members to review daily care management patient lists and discuss patient's treatment plan & management * Performs age-specific screenings for Activities of Daily Living, Falls, Alcohol, Tobacco, and/or Depression screenings annually for every patient * Enters data into the electronic medical record related to medication adherence, diabetes control, foot/eye exam compliance for provider review and reconciliation * Assists providers with distributing educational materials to patients * Assists Population Health Management team by verifying patient has completed their colorectal screening, breast screening, cervical cancer screening and other pertinent preventive screens. * Retrieves information regarding hospital admission and Emergency Room visits from outside facilities for evaluation by provider for transition of care coordination * Assists providers with follow-up related to patients on Coumadin therapy * Assists at the front desk as needed: answer telephones, register patients, discharge patients, schedule appointments, copy charts, schedule ancillary tests, and follow up on overdue diagnostic test results. * Follows Primary Care Medical Home and MACRA protocols for designated role * Performs all other job related functions as assigned. Role Summary: Mount Sinai seeks a Primary Care Physician to provide primary and preventive care within our interdisciplinary Institute for Advanced Medicine. In addition to providing excellent, convenient and innovative care, the physician will collaborate on health care delivery to create an exceptional patient experience. The physician will provide comprehensive primary care and prevention services to LGBTQ patients at Mount Sinai, with a focus on HIV prevention and care. Core responsibilities include prescribing and managing HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), providing ongoing care for patients living with HIV, and delivering gender-affirming care including hormone therapy and related services for transgender patients. Job Description Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking an accomplished and experienced Physician or exceptional PhD Researcher (with a clinical partner) to assume the role of System Chief for the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. The ideal candidate should demonstrate substantial leadership skills and a dedication to advancing clinical and translational research, particularly using NIH grants. The Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai receives approximately $154 million from the NIH to conduct groundbreaking research across 14 divisions. Reporting to the System Chair of the Department of Medicine, the System Chief will have oversight of approximately 85 full- and part-time faculty, and 22 voluntary physicians across the Mount Sinai Health System. Responsibilities will encompass the administrative, clinical, research, and educational dimensions of the Division, with a keen appreciation of its distinctive role in medical education and its connection to the community. The Division of Infectious Diseases provides care to persons with HIV at the Institute for Advanced Medicine (IAM). IAM has four clinical sites with subspecialty practices for those who are underserved or have specialized needs. Specialized needs groups include persons with HIV, members of the LGBTQ+ community, victims of domestic violence, and recently incarcerated men and women who are transitioning to life on their own. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of understanding, monitoring, and responding to novel and re-emerging pathogens, and the Division is prioritizing this work across several areas. For example, in collaboration with Mount Sinai's Department of Genetics and Genomics, our Infectious Disease researchers utilize genomics to understand how hospital infections are acquired, transmitted, identified, and treated. In collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, scientists are working on new diagnostics and therapeutic interventions, such as antibody therapies and vaccines.
