Job Description The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in driving profitable growth by producing accurate, detailed, and timely estimates for custom architectural millwork projects. This position requires deep knowledge of woodworking, fabrication methods, materials, and installation practices. The Senior Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure bids are competitive, complete, and aligned with production capabilities. Key Responsibilities • Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare comprehensive millwork estimates., • Develop detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, hardware, finishes, and subcontracted components., • Evaluate project scope, identify risks, and propose value‐engineering options when appropriate., • Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns for both negotiated and competitive bid projects., • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to validate feasibility, lead times, and fabrication methods., • Maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of material pricing, labor rates, and industry trends., • Review addenda, RFIs, and change orders to update estimates and pricing as needed., • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients., • Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to project management., • 5+ years of estimating experience in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, or related woodworking fields., • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications., • Deep understanding of millwork materials, joinery methods, finishes, and fabrication workflows., • Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office., • Excellent math, analytical, and problem‐solving skills., • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments., • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously., • Accurate estimates that reflect real production costs and timelines., • Strong relationships with clients and vendors built on trust and reliability., • Smooth project handoffs with minimal surprises during fabrication or installation.
