Job Description Job Title: Packer Job Description The Packer supports packaging operations in a food manufacturing environment by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements described in the company’s HACCP plan for SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards. This role organizes inventory, prepares items for shipment, works on a production line, stages packing materials and finished goods, operates packaging equipment, and maintains a clean and safe workstation while collaborating closely with the production team. Responsibilities • Follow all safety, cGMP, and food safety guidelines as outlined in the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs and HACCP plan., • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout the shift., • Operate and monitor packaging machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety standards., • Perform equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers based on production schedules and product specifications., • Monitor the production process, following established production guidelines and specifications for various product sizes., • Conduct regular quality checks of packaged goods to ensure they meet established quality and food safety standards., • Monitor packaging materials and supplies, and replenish them as needed to keep production running smoothly., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to a supervisor., • Report any machine failures, accurately describing the type and frequency of the issue., • Assist with organizing inventory, staging packing materials, and handling finished goods for shipment., • Ensure production equipment is properly stocked and ready for use., • Perform basic documentation and reporting for quality assurance and traceability requirements., • Clean and sanitize the workstation and related equipment as required., • Collaborate with team members on the production line to meet production targets and maintain workflow. Essential Skills • Strong team player with the ability to work cooperatively on a production line., • Good communication skills; bilingual communication ability is a plus., • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and follow detailed procedures., • Flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work multiple shifts as needed., • Effective problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production environment., • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally., • Ability to stand and work on foot for up to 8 hours and for sustained periods of time., • Capability to extend hands and arms in any direction and handle products on the line., • Ability to apply pressure to objects with fingers and palms for handling and packing., • Adequate hearing to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication., • Visual acuity to perform inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors., • Ability to clearly express and exchange ideas through spoken word., • Capability to bend at the waist, legs, and spine to reach, lift, and move products., • Ability to move about on foot, including going up and down stairs, to accomplish tasks., • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors., • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment for the duration of the shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in production, general labor, or packing roles in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment is beneficial., • Familiarity with food manufacturing practices, including GMP and HACCP, is an asset., • Experience with inspection, packaging, and basic quality assurance or traceability documentation is helpful., • Comfort working with packaging equipment and monitoring production of various product sizes. Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP guidelines and food safety standards. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. You will work in a refrigerated environment and around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors. The position requires standing for most of the shift, frequent movement on foot, and the ability to go up and down stairs. The facility operates under a cleanroom-style dress code with no jewelry and no make-up to maintain product safety and hygiene. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
