MAJOR FUNCTION: The Dental Director is responsible for the delivery of high-quality dental services, supervising and recruiting dental staff, program planning, quality assurance and peer review. The DD conducts performance evaluations for dental providers, and Dental Practice Manager. The DD also manages payroll for the Dental Practice Manager, manages time off requests and trains new providers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES: • Provides safe environment of care, • Ensures dental sites are following AAMI and CDC guidelines, • Reduces risk of nosocomial infections in patients, employees and visitors, • Interacts with patients, visitors, staff and outside agencies in professional manner, • Contributes to Improving Organizational Performance Activities, • Promotes positive working relationships among supervisor, staff, and other departments, • Interacts with all other departments to achieve health center mission, • Maintains strict confidentiality at all times as per Confidentiality Statement, • Identifies problems and develops recommendation for resolution, • Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize tasks, • Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing professional growth and development, • Participates in department planning activities, as requested, • Participates in health center committees, as assigned, • Ensures dental department staff adheres to all CCHN policies, • Maintains clear and orderly work area., • Integrates department services with health centers’ primary function, • Coordinates and integrates services within department, with other departments and organizations, • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services, • Recommends sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care, • Determines qualifications and competence of department personnel, • Continuously assesses and improves department’s performance, • Maintain appropriate quality control program, • Provides orientation, in service training, and continuing education of department staff, • Recommends space and other resources needed by department., • Ensure that department staff are notified, trained, and following new/updated policies and regulatory changes, • Maintains adequate reference material for staff, • Provides feedback to staff and coaches for improved performance ensures department are knowledgeable of and perform as per health center policy during emergency situation, • Encourages an atmosphere of empowerment within the department, • Ensures staff attendance and training for mandatory in-service programs, • Collaborates as necessary with Training team, • Ensures department staffs are able to function effectively according to health center emergency plans, • Familiarizes department staff with health center and department policies with location of procedure, emergency and infection control manuals., • Coordinates annual OSHA training., • Prepares budget requests (personnel and wish list in required format)., • Controls expenses to maximize cost effectiveness, • Modifies budget as needed in response to organizational /department changes, • Ensures sufficient resources to support department activities, • Monitors monthly financial reports. Identifies causes of budget variation, communicates appropriately, and takes corrective action, • Coordinates departmental purchasing within budget limits, • Evaluates reviews and recommends modification of existing department equipment and purchases of new equipment., • Controls utilization of department resources to achieve efficiency while improving quality., • Responsible for the direct supervision of Dental Practice Manager, • Coordinates and integrates services within department, with other departments and organizations., • Implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services, • Continuously assists in the assessment of the departments’ performance, • Maintains appropriate quality control program, • Department Meetings communications. EOE Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: • Previous experience in a leadership or management role within a dental practice or healthcare setting, with oversight of dentists and other dental staff, is preferred., • Graduate of an accredited school of Dentistry with a DDS, DMD or RDH Degree., • Masters in public health or master health administration or MBA in health care management preferred., • Maintains current unrestricted New Jersey State License, • Maintains valid Federal D.E.A. Certificate and NJ CDS (If required)., • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (AHA- BLS/Provider), • Compliance with required dental continuing education requirements., • 1–2 years of experience preferred., • A minimum of 5 years in a community health center setting, • Strong leadership and team management abilities., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • In-depth knowledge of general dental practices and regulations., • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively., • Proficient in dental software and office management systems., • Must be able to move freely about the office and carry light loads (up to 25 pounds). Prolonged sitting and occasional standing required.
