Job Description JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervise staff responsible for implementing and expanding school-based programs, including those funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) COMPASS programs., • Oversee COMPASS Elementary, SONYC Middle, and COMPASS High programs, including components., • Ensure that all DYCD regulations are followed, including those governing reports, program evaluations, and budgets., • Engage with school leaders at sites where programs are facilitated, including participating in regular school leadership meetings, to maintain relationships with leaders and coordinate programs with the schools., • Supervise staff responsible for implementing and expanding Summer Youth Employment Programs (SYEP) for Younger Youth and Older Youth., • Manage the development and strengthening of partnerships with new and existing worksites for SYEP Older Youth., • Conduct site visits at schools and worksites to monitor operations, safety, and quality of the internship experience., • Manage the budgets for all external programs by working with the Finance Department., • Attract, recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing and high-potential talent pool of full-time and part-time staff., • Market all programs being supervised and expanded by working with the organization’s marketing team., • Apply for grants and complete grant reports by working with the organization’s grant writer., • Integrate the Y’s universal Jewish values and its connection to Israel in all programs where appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Master's degree strongly preferred (Bachelor’s required) in one of the following fields: child development, education, physical education, or recreation., • At least seven years of work with youth, including five years as a supervisor, demonstrating success in enrichment or educational environments, working with a broad spectrum of staff, volunteers, and program participants., • At least 10 years of youth development experience, including five (5) years of demonstrated success in an educational environment working with a broad spectrum of staff, volunteers, and program participants., • Demonstrated experience in curriculum and program development, • Bilingual in Spanish preferred., • Current First Aid and CPR certification, and required Health & Safety certification preferred. LOCATION: • YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood, 54 Nagle Avenue, NY, NY 10024., • P.S. 173, 306 Fort Washington Ave, New York, NY 10033., • Columbia Secondary School, 425 W 123rd St, New York, NY 10027. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: • Compensation range of $100,000-$110,000., • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and competitive benefits package: Health Insurance; Retirement Plan, Optional 403b Plan, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account, Commuter Benefit Plan, and Y Fitness Center Membership. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: • Full-time position, onsite at different DYCD-funded school sites and SYEP worksites, • Eight-hour workday (with half-hour unpaid lunch), • Weekdays and weekends, and evenings as needed WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCE: Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. Must pass the background check, medical tests, fingerprinting through the Department of Health & Department of Education, and other pre-employment requirements.
