Job DescriptionSalary: $50 - $58/hour Pre-Op / Post-Op Registered Nurse (ASC) Position Title:Pre-Operative / Post-Operative RN Ambulatory Surgery Center Department:Pre-Op & PACU/Post-Op Recovery Reports To: Nurse Manager & Administrator of Surgical Services Location:New York, Queens Key Responsibilities • Assess patients during pre-operative phase: obtain health history, vital signs, verify documentation & consents, perform pre-op teaching and preparations., • Prepare pediatric dentistry and ophthalmology patients (adults) for procedures: ensure NPO status, IV access, allergy checks, surgical site verification., • Monitor patients in post-operative recovery: observe vital signs, airway status, level of consciousness, pain and nausea management; initiate discharge criteria when appropriate., • Provide discharge education to guardians/parents and adult patients: post-procedure care instructions, activity restrictions, medication guidance, signs of complications., • Collaborate with surgical team, anesthesiologists, OR nurses and dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow, timely turnover and patient safety., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record (EHR) of assessments, interventions, hand-offs and discharge instructions., • Adhere to ASC regulatory requirements, infection control standards, and surgical center accreditation guidelines. Assist with environment of care, equipment readiness and supply levels., • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license., • BLS required; ideally ACLS and/or PALS certification (especially for pediatric dentistry cases)., • Minimum 1-2 years of peri-operative or PACU experience preferred (experience in ophthalmology and/or pediatric dentistry strongly preferred)., • Excellent communication skills (with children, parents/guardians, adult patients)., • Ability to work in a fastpaced outpatient surgical environment, multi-task and adapt to changing case volume., • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday (with possibility of early morning start for first case). Weekends sometimes., • No major holidays or weekends (though some ASCs may require occasional flexibility).
