Job Description Veterinary Technician Supervisor The Animal Emergency & Referral Associates in West Caldwell, NJ is seeking passionate and experienced Veterinary Technician Supervisors to lead and support our dedicated team! Founded in 1977 by a visionary team of veterinarians, the Animal Emergency Group was created to meet the growing demand for specialized around-the-clock emergency care for pets. Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to ensure quality and efficiency within the Technician Department so we may continue to provide excellent patient care. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is the direct support between the doctors, hospital management, and nursing staff. They will be responsible for scheduling, employee performance, direct feedback, and training within their department. The Veterinary Technician Supervisor must maintain very high standards of culture, professionalism, accountability, while having the ability to communicate well with coworkers and management to ensure overall accuracy and satisfaction. Compensation: • $33-$42 based on skill level/experienceAnticipated Schedule:, • Full Time, • 4x10 hour shifts, • Demonstrate and promote a positive culture and encouraging work environment, • Provide enhanced support and training presence on floor to medical team, • Provide clear image and frequently promote the shared values, goals, and direction of the hospital, • Scheduling for the nursing team, including approving time off and coordinating coverage, • Manage Dayforce (scheduling software), • Schedule arrangements for when doctor is away- staff assigned to alt department, cover other days, or take PTO, • Communication & coordination between departments re. staffing, patient care, procedures, protocol, etc., • Promote and assist with training for new and existing staff members, coordinate with team leads/shift leads, • Address staff concerns and performance issues in line with hospital expectations and Team Agreements, • Provide feedback with Nursing Leader, toward team on staff performance for evaluations, • Provide continuous feedback to staff- encouragement, reinforcement, and redirection, • Document check-ins, skills assessments, goal setting and follow-ups, • Assist with performance management, all levels of disciplinary actions, and documentation for nursing team members, • Collaborate with Nursing Leader, team on staff and department needs, • Encourage safe, happy, supportive, and progressive environment for staff to thrive, • Discourage negativity, gossip, and toxic behaviors, • Provide training and continuing education on and off the floor, • Be an active representative and participant in events that contribute to marketing, the advancement of our hospital image, and growthQualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:, • Must be highly skilled and familiar with emergency and specialty medicine, • Experience as a Veterinary Technician Shift Lead, • Ability to work nights, weekends, and Holidays, • Must be dependable, • Ability to take direction from a variety of people under various situations and accurately follow instructions, • Capability of anticipating needs of doctors and nurses and show initiative, • Ability to react quickly and appropriately during emergency situations, and remain calm under pressure, • Excellent communication/people skills, • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!, • Good grooming and hygiene, • Must have team-oriented attitude and promote positive culture, • Ability to be a proactive problem solver and demonstrate leadership skills on the floor, • Considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with staff and clients affected by a variety of problems, • Ability to work with and without direct supervision, • Previous management or supervisor experience a plus, • Capability to kneel, bend, & to lift various sizes of animals to treatment tables, without assistance at timesPreferred Qualifications:, • Bachelor’s Degree, • Certified Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT), • Proven Leadership/ Supervisor ExperienceBenefits Include:, • 401(k) with matching, • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, • Health Savings Account (HSA) / Flexible Spending Account (FSA), • Life and Disability insurance, • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Holidays, • Employee Assistance Program and Discounts (including Pet Discount), • Professional development, • Uniform stipend, • Student Debt Assistance, • 6 Paid Holidays, • Recover Training and Certification for qualified staff, • Fear Free Training and Certification for qualified staff, • CE Reimbursement for qualified staff, • Access to VetBloom for RACE-approved continuing education and trainingWhy Choose AERA?, • Work alongside a compassionate and talented team dedicated to excellence in veterinary care., • Make a meaningful impact by being an advocate for pets and their families., • Enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced environment that keeps you engaged and challenged., • Be part of a workplace that values your contributions and supports your growth.
