Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Implements treatment plans and programs through consistent daily and weekly schedules that focus on functional and measurable outcomes to be shared with the school and/or supervisors. Initiates new program development with a focus on needed functional outcomes. Delivers specialized individual and group occupational therapy instruction as mandated in students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Collects data and completes reports regarding the student’s goals and progress. Consults with other professionals (Teachers, SLP, PT, PCP, etc. ) on the student's treatment team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive therapy team. Assesses and documents each student’s progress through formal and informal tests and measurements. Writes and prepares annual review reports and goals for each student in accordance with their IEP dates and requirements in order to remain in compliance with state guidelines. Provides occupational therapy expertise when developing FBAs/BIPs. Provides parent and caregiver support and education to discuss the student’s progress and strategies for continued support outside of school. Attends all school related meetings as scheduled, such as, but not limited to, Triennials, Annual Reviews, Domain, Referrals, IEP, and pre-IEP meetings for each individual student. Ensures a suitable learning environment by setting up and preparing materials and supplies as needed. Provides screenings and evaluations to determine requirements for skilled occupational therapy intervention relative to the client’s level of function. This includes, but is not limited to the following areas: ADL (activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, bed mobility, functional transfers, hygiene issues, feeding, school function, home management tasks, etc.), range of motion, strength, positioning, contracture management, conducting home assessments, discharge planning, development of maintenance programs and other related client care issues. Supervises the COTA(s) in accordance with state practice act guidelines, as needed. Communicates and follows up with the school and families in order to request appropriate physician signatures/orders for school-based occupational therapy referrals in order to initiate and continue services. Follows the safety guidelines and directives for the student in regard to functional mobility and orientation (i.e. transfers, wheelchair or walker mobility, etc.) and exercises provided by other related service providers (i.e. physical therapist, vision itinerant, hearing itinerant, speech and language pathologist, orientation and mobility instructor, etc.). Utilizes communication devices and assistive technology as outlined by the Speech Language Pathologist and itinerants. Follows any fire drill or safety guidelines outlined by the school. Provides and completes documentation to maintain quality of therapy records, as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy of billing information, and school requirements. Job Summary The Academy Charter High School Physical Education teacher works to deepen students’ participation in well -rounded program involving various sports as well as a variety of physical fitness activities. The teacher is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering instruction to groups of 40-50 students as well as providing small group and one on one support and coaching. The teacher will also oversee and lead all after school sporting activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Teach a standards- based curriculum in both Physical Education and Health, • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials, • Teach content and skills, • Provide interactive and meaningful learning material to students, maintaining positive learning environment for active participation of students, assigning homework, and conduct periodic assessments to measure student growth and progress, • Implement and deliver quality instruction to students and execute the instructional program by demanding higher order thinking activities from students in a progressive manner, • Design the curriculum that challenges the learning ability of students and ensure overall development of language, • Prepare assignments and create innovative methods of teaching as per the students' varying learning style, • Implement effective classroom management skills that builds a classroom culture, • Actively participate in professional development and works collaboratively with colleagues and instructional leaders to improve instructional practices and student learning., • Build meaningful and professional relationships with students and their families, • Lead all after school, intramural and extramural sporting activities, • Build and liaison external relationships related in the overall high school sports program, • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the school leadership. Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $62,500 - $ 78,000. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Supervises and facilitates the classroom and the learning, according to the plans of the Lead Teacher and/or Teacher in the absence of the Lead Teacher or Teacher. Helps with meal and snack preparation, feeding children, modeling table manners at family style meals. Assists with ensuring the classroom is organized, clean and tour ready at all times. Interacts with children on the playground/classroom taking part in activities that include bending, stooping, jumping and other physical activities as indicated under the physical requirements section. Provides exceptional customer service to the families and children we serve, which includes maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and families. Greet every family, child and visitor who enters the school/classroom with a warm and sincere welcome. Assist parents at drop off and pick up times. Acknowledge all departing families, children and visitors with a farewell. Respond to all questions and requests in friendly and timely manner. Works to prevent injuries and accidents; follows all procedures related to injuries and accidents if one should occur. Reports child injuries and hazards promptly to the Lead Teacher/Teacher and Director. Required to attend all staff training sessions, meetings and programs sponsored by the School; this is mandatory not optional. Participates in QRIS or accreditation goals and performs the associated classroom requirements to meet those goals where applicable. Reports suspected child abuse/neglect to local child protective agency/hotline as mandated by state law. Performs other related duties as requested by a member of management or Lead Teacher. Regular attendance is required. Responsible for daily cleaning duties which include sweeping , mopping, disposing of trash. Supervision: No direct reports. Education/Experience: Required: Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences Be available for full time employment and available to work as late as 7:00 pm Previous work experience in an office environment preferred Have dependable transportation Certification/Licensure: CDA preferred CPR and First Aid certified preferred If applicable, must maintain required units, certifications etc., as required by the state and Company.
