The Lower School SLP works with a caseload of lower school (i.e., K-6th grade) students. The Upper School SLP works with a caseload of middle school and high school (i.e., 6th-12th grade) students. Clinical services in our school are provided in a highly collaborative and integrated manner so as to generalize skills for success in natural and nuanced environments. In addition to addressing students’ social-cognitive needs, our speech and language team provides language-based intervention. educational technology Supervisory Responsibilities None Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time 10-month position. The regular hours and workdays are Monday through Friday, 7:55 am to 3:55 pm in addition to any special events to which all staff are expected to attend. Role Summary The Upper School is seeking experienced classroom teachers available on an on-call basis to serve as substitute teachers for 9-12 grades with expertise in the above areas. The ideal candidates will have strong classroom management skills, familiarity with hands-on teaching practices, relevant experience with middle school students, and the ability to teach multiple academic subjects. Fieldston Upper School is seeking personable and enthusiastic professionals who are inspired by working closely with adolescents. Subjects currently offered at ECFS Upper School: English, Ethics, History, Languages, Math, Learning Center, Library, Music, Physical Education, Science, Theater/Dance, Visual Arts. Substitutes are needed for half day, full day, and extended subbing schedules throughout the school year. We provide substitute teachers with as much advance notice as possible, a lesson plan from the classroom teacher and administrative support. The rate of a substitute is $25.00 per hour, which is a rate of $175 per day. Please note that this is an onsite role and not performed remotely. Position Responsibilities Specific responsibilities of the Substitute will include: * Teaching classes based on a specific lesson plan in an engaging manner; * Appropriately addressing student behavioral issues and other challenges that may arise in the classroom in order to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm in such situations; * Providing encouragement to students to help support their social and emotional growth; * Leaving notes for the returning teacher based on the day's instruction; * Performing other related projects and duties as needed and assigned.
