Job Description SUMMARY: Under the direction of the LGBT Safe Zone Program Coordinator, Resident Aide will provide direct care and protection to youth that have been the victims of crime. This position is responsible for the daily care and protection of RAIN residents while maintaining a safe space for young trans-gender, gay/bisexual men and women ages 18-26 years. Qualifications: The individual must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of Two (2) years’ experience working with LGBTQI youth who have been a victim of crime. Must be at least 21 years old and worked in diverse communities. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and proficient with computers. CPR and First Aid training and certification required within 3 months of hire. Must have a valid New Jersey drives license and a clean driving record. Must meet Employment Eligibility Verification requirements including updated tuberculosis (T.B.) test and successful completion of background screening. Principle Activities: The LGBT Safe Zone Resident Aide shall: • Train residents in daily living skills such as bed making, laundry, personal care such as bathing and showering personal hygiene and grooming, • Develop and/or follow recommended teaching techniques behavior management programs to assist residents with increasing their productivity and independent living functions., • Supervise and assist residents with in punctual attendance of scheduled daily programs such as school, work, medical appointments, therapy and support groups;, • Prepare and serve meals, as needed and eat with residents to model behavior, • Accompany residents on shopping trips and counsel residents in purchase of items, • Work with residents on achieving formal and informal goals such as use of public transportation communications, money management, and social interaction., • Aid staff in administering therapeutic and leisure activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts and recreational games to residents both on and off site, • Observe, document and review residents’ daily progress, needs, medical issues and behaviors, • Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of indoor and outdoor areas such as the residents home, van an outdoor areas, • Perform housekeeping duties, • Restrain disruptive residents to prevent injury to themselves and others, using prescribed methods, • Report any immediate safety hazards to appropriate supervisory or maintenance personnel., • Complete written work order request for maintenance needs.
