Job Description The START Center for Cancer Research (“START”) is the world’s largest early phase site network, fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. Throughout our history, START has provided hope to cancer patients in global community practices by offering "Hope Through Access” to cutting edge trials throughout the United States and Europe. We are hiring an Infusion Nurse who will be responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals who are participants in research protocols that are conducted at START. The Infusion Nurse uses appropriate professional judgment and decision-making in planning and providing care. Nursing care is to be delivered in a manner consistent with the Standard Operating Procedures and standards of practice, and professional evidence-based standards. This position is offered at a pay range of $45.00 to $50.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition, employees in this role may be eligible for an annual bonus of up to 10% of base earnings. Work Schedule: 8:00 am-5:00 pm EST, Monday-Friday Location: 405 Lakeville Road, Entrance A, Lake Success, NY 11042 Essential Responsibilities Patient Care • Administer chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent to participants (inclusive of parenteral) according to the protocol and applicable regulations., • Perform study-related activities including but not limited to venipuncture, obtaining blood specimens, IV insertion, and venous access device (central line) management, ECG collection, and vital signs., • Collect biological samples according to the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures., • Educate, explain, and inform participants of study procedures., • Record data obtained according to the protocol and Standard Operating Procedures., • Use nursing assessment skills to observe participant general well-being and potential adverse events. Document events and take appropriate action as needed., • Respond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards., • Provide patient education regarding participation in a clinical trial, chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent administration and potential side effects., • Prepare for clinic day ensuring necessary supplies., • Assist with the training and mentorship of less tenured staff., • Communicate with providers regarding a change in patient status., • Use skills, knowledge, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgement in order to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials., • Remain current with appropriate emergency certifications and company emergency policy and procedures., • Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions., • Other duties may be assigned at any time. Education & Experience • High School Diploma or GED., • Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state., • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and AHA certified program., • Previous experience in peripheral IV insertion and management of venous access device(s). Job Description JOB DEFINITION: The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing short-term acute care to individuals presenting to the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center with a mental health/substance use crisis. The RN assesses clients, administers medications, manages psychiatric and medical needs, and supports crisis stabilization through trauma-informed, patient centered care. The RN will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, promote recovery, and assist with treatment planning and discharge coordination. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Department of Education and possess either an Associate's Degree (if awarded prior to December 18, 2017), Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program*. Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • One (1) year of community mental health experience and/or at least two (2) years of mental health experience specifically working in a mental health setting., • Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a professional setting is highly preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensures the completion of all medical assessments for each client, including coordinating additional services with the psychiatrist., • Collaborates with the psychiatrist in the coordination of care for clients to include clinical and educational training of the team as needed; development, maintenance and supervision of all medication administration efforts; supervision of all psychiatric and medical treatment and/or medical interventions., • Monitors the pharmacological effects of prescribed psychotropic medications and notifies the psychiatrist of their reported effectiveness., • Working in conjunction with the psychiatrist and nurse practitioner, is responsible for the coordination of patient education efforts to include the benefits, risks and possible side effects of prescribed medication. This education effort is not limited to home visits but may also include the coordination of various groups to include but not limited to, medication, wellness, etc., • Responsible for entering the documentation in EHR., • Responsible for conducting shift change reports and ensure continuity of care through accurate communication and documentation., • Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress, • Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed., • Ability to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views and experiences.
