Job Description JOB DEFINITION: Provide administrative supervision to a dynamic team of residential staff providing housing and services to people with psychiatric disabilities. Job Description Title: Intake Specialist Location: Queens, New York FLSA Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt Role Summary: The successful candidate will perform specific intake procedures to identify barriers that will impede the structure developed towards guiding clients in becoming self-sufficient. Intake specialists have to be able to understand what a client needs when coming to them in crisis or in a less than optimum state. The specialist will be responsible to find solutions for a myriad of issues as necessary. Compassion and patience are assets in this field and communication skills are imperative. Assist individuals (service recipients) in skills development by implementing individual specific and general programs. The Community Habilitation Specialist will have the ability to interact with individuals and staff professionally and ethically, understand and implement service plans, and Staff Action Plans as written, and to complete all required documentation clearly, legibly in a timely manner. SUMMARY New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill the seasonal role of Soccer Specialist. In this role, you will be critical in providing targeted, skill- and age-appropriate instruction, coaching, and mentorship to youth in New York Edge’s after-school day camp programs. Soccer Specialists organize and lead physical activity programming at their site, ensuring the safety of all program participants. WORK SCHEDULE * 9-15 hours per week. * Monday through Friday -- 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Motivate students to be active daily. * Ensure daily activity lesson plans and projects are structured and age-appropriate and have clear learning goals based on the provided Soccer and physical activity guide. * Communicate with the Program Director and Center for Soccer and Wellness regarding the calendar of programs, leagues, tournaments, and special events. * Motivate and encourage students to participate in organization-wide Soccer activities. * Establish and enforce safety rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. * Instruct participants on the activities' principles, techniques, and safety procedures and show them how to use materials and equipment properly. * Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. * Evaluate activities to determine if they are producing the desired results. * Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests. * Promote and ensure the progressive development of student skills and character development in all youth. * Most New York Edge Soccer Specialists are expected to provide support during Academic hours. * Adapt each activity to ensure safe participation in the space provided. REQUIRED SKILLS * Must be knowledgeable and skilled in Soccer and have experience successfully teaching and instructing youth. * Prior experience teaching and instructing youth preferred * Must be able to follow a curriculum * Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual! * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. * May be required to walk up and down stairs. * May have to lift or move objects/materials as needed. * Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but may be required to interact with the community at-large during trips or events. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred * A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. * A minimum of one year of teaching experience is required. * Must have passion for New York Edge's mission and demonstrated interest in education and youth development. * Candidates qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are also preferred.
