Job DescriptionJob Title: Pipefitter Job Description This role focuses on installing, fitting, and assembling a variety of piping systems with an emphasis on brazing and soldering copper pipe for HVAC applications. You will interpret blueprints, lay out and dry fit piping, and perform high-quality brazing, threading, and pipe welding to support VRV, VRF, and ductless HVAC systems in a commercial construction environment. Responsibilities • Brazing and soldering copper pipe to install and assemble piping systems for HVAC applications., • Lay out, dry fit, and install pipe according to blueprints and project specifications., • Perform pipe threading using a 300 machine and related equipment for groove pipe and screw pipe installations., • Install branch boxes and run copper HVAC lines for VRV, VRF, and ductless units., • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine pipe routing, dimensions, and materials., • Measure, cut, and prepare pipe and fittings to ensure accurate and secure installations., • Perform pipe welding as needed to complete piping assemblies and connections., • Inspect completed pipe systems for leaks, alignment, and quality, and make adjustments as required., • Collaborate with other trades on site to coordinate installation activities and maintain project timelines., • Follow all site safety procedures and use required safety certifications and training while working on NYC and NJ jobsites.Essential Skills, • Hands-on experience with pipe fitting and pipe installation in a construction or mechanical setting., • Proficiency in brazing and soldering copper pipe for HVAC and mechanical piping systems., • Ability to perform pipe threading using a 300 machine for groove pipe and screw pipe., • Experience installing and running copper lines for VRV, VRF, and ductless HVAC units., • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints to plan and execute pipe layouts., • Knowledge of HVAC piping systems, including copper HVAC lines and associated fittings., • Capability to perform pipe welding as required for secure and durable pipe connections., • Strong understanding of safety practices on construction sites, particularly for NYC and NJ jobsites., • SST 10 (Workers Wallet) and F60 & G60 certifications for NYC jobsites., • OSHA 30 certification for NJ and Regeneron / SST jobsites.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience working with HVAC piping, including VRV, VRF, and ductless systems., • Familiarity with a variety of piping materials and connection methods, including groove pipe and screw pipe., • Ability to work from blueprints with minimal supervision and maintain high installation quality., • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate layout, dry fitting, and brazing of pipe systems., • Reliability in meeting early start times and maintaining consistent attendance., • Willingness to work overtime when available to support project schedules.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on a commercial jobsite located at 255 West 34th Street, working primarily daytime hours with a typical schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will work in an active construction environment using tools such as threading machines (including 300 machines), brazing and soldering equipment, and standard pipefitting tools. The role involves working in and around HVAC systems, copper piping, and mechanical rooms, often in areas that may be noisy, dusty, or confined, consistent with commercial construction conditions. Proper safety gear is required at all times in accordance with site and regulatory standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Middle Village, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
