The Nassau County PINS (Person In Need of Supervision) Diversion program is designed to divert youth who are at risk, from PINS petitions that require court involvement. PINS Diversion services families with children up to the age of 18 in Nassau County. Reports To Controller and the Management Committee Key Responsibilities • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing/collections, payroll, bank/treasury activities., • Assist in managing the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements., • Prepare and analyze internal and external financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, cash-flow, partner / equity accounting as applicable to law firm)., • Assist with budgetary processes, forecasting and variance analysis; provide insights and recommendations., • Work closely with other departments (e.g., practice groups, billing department, operations) to support business objectives, cost-management and profitability analysis., • Support audit activities (internal/external), tax filings and compliance matters (including law-firm specific matters like partner compensation, trust accounting, etc.)., • Identify process improvement opportunities, system automation/enhancement and reporting efficiencies., • Serve as backup in billing/deposits when needed. Required Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, • 3+ years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience; experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly desirable., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills. Ability to engage with attorneys/partners, operations, and management., • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and mastery of Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)., • High level of integrity, confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive financial and partner/firm-equity matters., • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work effectively in a collaborative but fast-paced environment.
