American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/05/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in a hospital-based Cardiac Stepdown unit (CVU) with a Level I Trauma designation, • Unit provides intermediate care for cardiac and vascular patients, including downgraded CVICU and post-surgical cases, • Typical diagnoses include patients from thoracic program, cath lab, EP, structural heart, CHF, AFib RVR, and other cardiac/vascular conditions, • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours, • Unit has 18 beds and uses the Epic EMR, with experience preferred, • RNs required to titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizem, • Remote telemetry techs provided but RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips, • 12-hour day shifts (0630-1900), scheduled by management; no block or self-scheduling, • Every other weekend required; no on-call responsibilities, • Floating to same or lower acuity units is required, • Department-specific orientation tailored to experience (typically 1-2 shifts), • Navy blue scrubs required, • RNs provide direct monitoring and titration of cardiovascular medications for intermediate and post-surgical cardiac patients, • Charge nurse is present on each shift but rarely takes a patient assignment, • Nurse aides/patient care techs are available on unit with a ratio of 1:18, • Hospitalist and intensivist are in-house 24/7, with cardiology on-call after hours, • Respiratory therapists (RTs) are present 24/7 and manage equipment such as BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula, • Pass/fail open book exam covering orientation skills is required on the first Friday; a minimum score of 90% is mandatory to continue assignment, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, • Up to 7 days of requested time off may be considered if submitted up front, with no additional time off approved during the contract, • Returning candidates cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license at the time of application (pending licenses are not accepted), • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in a similar cardiac stepdown or intermediate care setting, • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, all active at the time of consideration, • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, • Must provide a valid driver's license for address verification (residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility), • Cannot be currently employed, full time, part time, or PRN, with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity, • References required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months, and one supervisor or peer reference from within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
