Job Description This role focuses on high-volume paving and flatwork concrete projects in a fast-paced environment. The Concrete Finisher works directly behind a paver to place, finish, and cure concrete surfaces, while also performing rebar tying, curb forming, and general construction tasks to ensure durable, high-quality results. Responsibilities • Work directly behind a concrete paver to place and finish concrete in a fast-paced paving environment., • Perform flatwork concrete finishing, including leveling, smoothing, and texturing surfaces to specified grades and finishes., • Form and finish curbs and other concrete structures according to project specifications., • Tie rebar and lay wire mesh to reinforce concrete structures and ensure structural integrity., • Use mag floats, hand trowels, and other finishing tools to achieve smooth and consistent concrete surfaces., • Assist with setting and stripping concrete forms and preparing sites for concrete pours., • Participate in concrete pours, including spreading, raking, and consolidating concrete as needed., • Read and interpret basic blueprints or layout instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately., • Operate or assist with heavy equipment operation and hand tools related to concrete and general construction work, as qualified., • Support general labor tasks on the job site, including site cleanup and material handling., • Follow all safety procedures and use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner., • At least 3 years of concrete finishing experience, preferably with paving and curbing work., • Proven experience working behind a paver in a fast-paced concrete paving environment., • Hands-on experience using mag floats and hand trowels for concrete finishing., • Proficiency in tying rebar and installing wire mesh for concrete reinforcement., • Strong skills in flatwork concrete finishing and curb forming and finishing., • Ability to perform and support concrete pours, including spreading, leveling, and finishing., • Familiarity with reading and following basic blueprints or construction drawings., • Experience using standard construction hand tools safely and effectively., • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods and in varying outdoor conditions., • Experience with heavy equipment operation related to concrete and site work., • Background in general construction, including carpentry and concrete formwork., • Knowledge of paving operations and concrete pour sequencing., • Ability to collaborate effectively with crew members and follow direction from site leadership. Work Environment This is a site-based construction role working primarily outdoors on paving and flatwork projects. The position involves operating around heavy equipment and active concrete pours in a fast-paced environment. You will regularly use hand tools such as mag floats, trowels, and other concrete finishing tools, as well as work with rebar, wire mesh, and concrete forms. The schedule typically averages around 55 hours per week, including a half day on Saturdays, and may require standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. Appropriate workwear suitable for an active construction site is expected, along with adherence to all safety practices and use of required protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
