Job Description Job Description: Senior Project Manager - Mechanical HVAC Location: Queens, NY Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 (commensurate with experience) LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a service mechanical contractor supporting large scale commercial, industrial, institutional, and specialty construction projects across the New York metro area. Position Overview LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in mechanical HVAC systems. This individual will oversee the full lifecycle of major commercial projects from planning and scheduling to execution, change management, financial oversight, and closeout. The ideal candidate has deep experience leading large scale mechanical/HVAC projects, excels at coordinating field operations and subcontractors, and thrives in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Key Responsibilities Project Management & Execution • Lead full project lifecycle for large commercial, institutional, and industrial mechanical/HVAC projects., • Oversee planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and installation activities., • Manage project scopes including piping, ductwork, HVAC equipment, controls, and supporting infrastructure., • Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure safety, quality, and productivity., • Monitor project progress and address issues proactively to avoid delays and cost overruns., • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation. Financial & Contract Management, • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking., • Ensure contract compliance with clients, subcontractors, and vendors., • Review and negotiate subcontractor proposals and vendor pricing., • Prepare progress reports and contribute to billing and cashflow management. Leadership & Collaboration, • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and design teams., • Lead coordination meetings and maintain strong communication across all stakeholders., • Partner with estimators during project handoff and early planning., • Mentor junior project engineers and assistant project managers. Process & Strategy, • Drive project specific risk management, schedule strategies, and value engineering solutions., • Maintain awareness of labor requirements (including union environments such as Local 638) and material market trends., • Champion improvements in project delivery processes, tools, and documentation. Required Qualifications, • 8- 12+ years of project management experience within mechanical/HVAC construction., • Proven ability to manage large commercial projects (education, healthcare, aviation, high-rise, energy, public works, etc.)., • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, controls, and related mechanical infrastructure., • Proficiency in project management and construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera, or similar)., • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client facing abilities., • Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive budget and schedule strategy. Preferred Qualifications, • Experience working in union mechanical/HVAC construction environments., • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical background., • Experience managing design build or design assist projects.
