• Job Type: Officer of Administration, • Regular/Temporary: Regular, • Hours Per Week: 26 The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Clinical Coordinator III (RN) to support both the CUIMC and Midtown (51 West 51st Street) campuses. The RN will serve as a key clinical contact for patients receiving subcutaneous allergen therapy and periodic vaccinations. The role includes administering allergy testing, oral challenges, and pulmonary function testing under physician supervision, while independently managing allergen supplies, equipment, and patient communications. The RN also provides patient education on skin test results and allergenavoidance strategies. Responsibilities • Serve as an ongoing clinical contact for patients receiving subcutaneous allergen therapy and periodic vaccinations, • Administer skin testing and oral food/medication challenges under physician supervision, • Perform pulmonary function testing as needed under physician supervision, • Formulate and mix allergen vials for patients receiving immunotherapy, • Administer allergen immunotherapy injections and other allergyrelated injectable medications (e.g., omalizumab, benralizumab, dupilumab), • Conduct percutaneous and/or intradermal allergy testing and record results in the EMR, • Maintain allergy test sets/trays and update them prior to expiration, • Monitor allergen supplies and equipment, track expiration dates, and ensure adequate inventory, • Participate in ordering allergen supplies and equipment, • Monitor the Allergy patient inbox and communicate with patients via phone and the EMR, • Provide patient education on skin test interpretation and allergenavoidance strategies, • Document patient progress in the EMR and communicate concerns to the onsite physician, • Update the EMR with relevant medical information or changes in patient condition, • Notify the physician of any concerns related to patient care, equipment, or supplies, • Recognize signs and symptoms of acute systemic allergic reactions and promptly obtain physician assistance, • Provide nonurgent test results (bloodwork, radiology, pulmonary function testing) to patients by phone, • Return patient phone calls and portal messages related to clinical questions, • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience, • Current New York State RN license and BLS Certification, • Ability to travel between CUIMC and Midtown sites, • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team, • Experience in Allergy or outpatient specialty care, • Experience administering injections, allergy testing, or assisting with oral challenge procedures, • Familiarity with pulmonary function testing, • Computer literacy required, including Excel and word processing, • Participation in the medical surveillance program, • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects, • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
