The organisation is at the forefront of enabling zero-emissions aviation, with programmes spanning aircraft conversion, propulsion integration and certification. As part of its continued growth, the company is seeking a Lead Electrical & Electronic Hardware Engineer to take ownership of hardware development across propulsion systems. This is a dual-responsibility role , combining: Hands-on engineering delivery (design, integration, V&V) Certification ownership and authority interface (EASA, DO-254, DO-160G) The successful candidate will play a central role in defining and delivering certifiable hardware systems, working across the full lifecycle from architecture through to qualification and approval. ✛ Key Responsibilities ✛ Lead the end-to-end development of electrical and electronic hardware systems, from requirements through design, integration, verification and certification. Define hardware architectures across propulsion-related systems, ensuring alignment with safety and certification requirements. Act as technical authority for E&E hardware across the programme, supporting design decisions and trade-offs. Own hardware certification activities, including compliance with DO-254, DO-160G, ARP4754A and ARP4761. Interface directly with certification authorities (EASA), supporting audits, documentation and approval processes. Lead and mentor hardware engineering activities, ensuring delivery against programme milestones. Coordinate closely with systems, software, propulsion and certification teams to ensure integrated system delivery. Drive development of hardware across key subsystems, including: Battery Management Systems (BMS) Power Distribution Units (PDU / HVPDU) Inverter and power electronics systems Oversee detailed design activities including schematics, PCB layout, integration and validation. Ensure robust design practices covering EMI/EMC, environmental constraints, grounding, bonding and safety. Support system-level architecture definition, including HV wiring, connectors, harnesses and protection strategies. Lead verification, validation and analysis activities using simulation and hardware tools. Maintain full hardware traceability and certification evidence in line with aviation standards. ✛ Candidate Profile ✛ Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s). Minimum ~5 years’ experience in hardware development within safety-critical environments. Proven experience across the full hardware lifecycle, from architecture through to qualification. Strong knowledge of aviation certification standards, including: DO-254 (hardware design assurance) DO-160G (environmental & EMC) ARP4754A / ARP4761 (system development & safety) Hands-on experience developing propulsion-related hardware systems, such as: BMS, PDU, HVPDU, inverters High-voltage sensing (voltage, temperature) Protection systems and safety functions Communication interfaces and system integration Strong understanding of electrical propulsion architectures, including: HV distribution, wiring and connectors Grounding and bonding strategies System-level EMI/EMC considerations Practical experience with EMC design and testing in aerospace environments (DO-160G) Experience with power electronics design, including thermal management and IGBT / SiC devices Proficiency with hardware design and simulation tools such as: Altium Designer LTSpice, PLECS, PSIM or equivalent MATLAB (desirable) Experience with FMEA / FMECA and safety-driven design approaches. Strong communication skills, with ability to interface across engineering teams and external authorities. Professional working proficiency in English. Experience in aerospace, electric propulsion, eVTOL or advanced mobility environments is highly desirable. ✛ Take your career to new HYTEs ✛ Opportunity to play a key role in shaping certifiable electric propulsion systems for next-generation aircraft.
