We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager for our independent pub in Highbury.


Bank of Friendship is a very busy, well-established pub which pumps out a lot of volume from tight spaces. This position would suit someone who is already have experience at the normal daily and weekly aspects of running a very busy pub. This role will be challenging and rewarding, it’s a great place to learn and have lots of input and sell great products.


Assistant Managers in our company are involved in every aspect of running the business and work in collaboration with the General Manager to run the site and develop the business. We are looking for an individual who is forward-thinking, friendly and relaxed, with a commitment to quality and consistency and enthusiasm about our products.


This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of great service, a practical approach to management and strong leadership skills, combined with a genuine love for hospitality. You’ll thrive on running a great pub, building a strong team, and showcasing interesting, high-quality products.

The ideal candidate will:


  • have experience to work under pressure on busy shifts.
  • have an in-depth understanding of the drink industry, modern craft beers, natural and organic wines, and spirits.
  • have experience guiding and coaching a large team to deliver great products and service with integrity and enthusiasm.
  • demonstrable experience of working independently and as part of a team led by core values and striving towards business objectives.
  • take pride in their job and pay strong attention to detail.
  • be friendly and enthusiastic with a can-do attitude and a desire to learn.
  • have knowledge of how to manage a cellar, line cleaning, cask ales and stock control.
  • provide at least two referees whom we may contact.
  • be eligible to work in the UK.
  • be able to commute comfortably to Highbury [N5] even at late nights, early mornings.
