Head of Estimating Structured Route to Estimating Director | Board-Level Opportunity Location: Essex or Central London Salary: £110,000–£125,000 + Executive Package (Negotiable) An Exclusive Appointment by Albion Albion is exclusively representing one of our longest-standing and most respected façade clients in the appointment of a Head of Estimating. This is a rare opportunity to join a financially secure, privately owned building envelope contractor with a turnover of approximately £40 million, an outstanding industry reputation spanning more than 25 years, and an ambitious growth strategy already underway. More importantly, this isn't simply another Head of Estimating role. This is a structured succession plan, offering a clear pathway to Estimating Director and a seat at board level within 12–24 months, subject to performance and agreed business objectives. The Opportunity You'll inherit a well-established department and take full ownership of its future. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you'll be responsible for leading, developing and driving the estimating and pre-construction function, ensuring it continues to support the company's ambitious growth plans. This is a genuine leadership position, giving you the autonomy to influence processes, improve efficiencies, mentor people and shape the future of one of the UK's most respected façade contractors. Your Team You'll lead an established department consisting of: • Five Estimators, • Estimating Administrator, • Sales Manager Working closely with Design, Pre-Construction, Commercial and Contracts teams, you'll oversee the entire tendering lifecycle—from initial enquiry through to successful submission—while ensuring the department consistently delivers high-quality work and achieves company targets. Your Responsibilities • Lead and develop the Estimating & Sales Department, • Drive departmental performance, activity and tender success, • Implement improvements across estimating and pre-construction processes, • Coach, mentor and develop existing team members, • Support strategic recruitment as the business continues to grow, • Strengthen collaboration between Estimating, Design, Commercial and Operations, • Build strong relationships with key clients, consultants and supply chain partners, • Contribute to the company's strategic direction as part of the senior leadership team About the Business Our client has built an exceptional reputation over more than 25 years, delivering specialist façade and building envelope packages throughout London, the Home Counties and, more recently, the South Coast and East Anglia. They operate across both new-build and façade remediation projects for a wide range of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 contractors, alongside leading developers. About You We're looking for an established estimating leader who has progressed through the industry—from Estimator to Senior Estimator and into management—and is now ready to take the final step into executive leadership. You'll have: • Proven experience leading an estimating department within an established façade contractor, • Extensive knowledge across the full building envelope sector, • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking, • A track record of securing major projects within the construction industry, • Existing relationships across the façade supply chain, • A passion for coaching, mentoring and developing people, • The ambition to build, improve and lead a high-performing department Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership, driving change and building high-performing teams.
