Job post summary Date posted: 19 September 2025 Pay: £12.60 per hour – pay scale dependent on experience Job Title: Youth Worker Reporting To: The Head of Swan Youth Project Location: The Swan Youth Centre, Berkhamsted and local area. Hours: The role holder must be available to work Monday to Friday, covering the core hours of 3.30pm – 6.15pm when we are working directly with our young people during term time, totalling 13.75 hours per week. ABOUT THE SWAN YOUTH PROJECT The Swan Youth Project (SYP) Limited is a Berkhamsted based registered charity which offers 11-16+ years old of Berkhamsted and the surrounding area, a safe and secure recreational facility within which they can relax and socialise away from the stresses of school or home life. To support them in this we provide a daily drop-in facility with organised activities at the centre as well as holiday programmes, workshops, music gigs and so much more. The SYP centre is well equipped with a DJ booth, pool table, table football, Internet room, chill-out room, Wii & Xbox, coffee bar and a fully equipped band practice room. A free snack and hot drink are offered to all members (some of whom may not have eaten all day). ABOUT THE ROLE: You will help plan, execute and engage in activities that enhance member development. Duties will include: 1. Running daily sessions both in the centre and offsite activities / trips, 2. Assist with the planning and set up of specific activities, 3. Engage and build positive relationships with young people, responding appropriately to challenging situations, 4. Create a calm and safe environment for both the young people and the staff., 5. All team members take on a share of the activities required for the smooth running of the centre; i.e. running our social media channels, fundraising, timely completion of all required centre checks ABOUT YOU: Ideally, you will have some experience working with young people; this could be through volunteer work, youth coaching, or as part of a formal qualification route. Full training will be given to develop you on this rewarding career path. Key Responsibilities: Excellent communication skills. Previous experience in a cleaning role. A background working in residential properties or facilities. Having attention to detail and the ability to clean within timeframes An awareness of the need to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at clients properties, ensuring H&S protocols are adhered too. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure work environment for all. Ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently, with attention to detail. Check inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, requesting orders as necessary. Report any faults or deficiencies in a timely manner to management. Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, when on shift, and report any incidents that occur during your shift. Promote a positive work environment by fostering teamwork and communication among staff. Be reliable and punctual Requirements: NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE. We require an experienced individual with at least 2 years experience, to provide hands on support to cleaning tasks at, Residential/Domestic properties that services are provided to on a weekly basis. Must be eligible to work in the UK. This role will require 2 references, 1 from your most recent employer and 1 from a cleaning employer. (Driving to clients sites in and around Hemel Hempstead and surrounding areas would be required - Candidates with clean license and a car required) Due to the nature of the role a Basic (DBS) Certificate will be required.
